Chapter 61

Yet now, William was treating another woman the same way he used to treat Rachel.

It was trulyโ€ฆ

Rachel simply sat in her chair, amending another proposal without a twitch on her face.

โ€œMy signature isnโ€™t on the proposal for Project Oasis. Itโ€™s also not under my care. I shouldnโ€™t be inside in the first place.โ€

Cecilia pursed her lips indignantly, finding it unfair for Rachel.

โ€œIn that case, Mr. Lewis shouldnโ€™t have let you in. Whatโ€™s the meaning of chasing you out in the middle of the meeting? It looks so bad for you, and our colleagues might gossip.โ€

โ€œCecilia, can you do me a favor?โ€

Rachel wasnโ€™t one to sit around and complain about matters. The first thing she always did whenever she encountered a problem was to solve it.

Her time here was drawing to a close. She had to finish up all the projects at hand before she could leave in peace.

Cecilia naturally had no idea what Rachel was planning to do, but was very glad to help when needed. โ€œJust speak your mind. Thereโ€™s no need to stand on ceremony with me. If it werenโ€™t for you, I couldnโ€™t have come back to work.โ€

โ€œGo into the meeting room and suggest to William to personally give Mr. Hunt a call. Tell him to say that he wishes for both companies to organize a team bonding sessionโ€“for the sake of the project and to silence the people. That will serve to propel Project Oasis forward.โ€

Cecilia felt slightly intimidated. โ€œUhโ€ฆ Rachel, are you sending me into the lionโ€™s den? How could an ordinary employee go to him with such a suggestion? You know very well the relationship between Mr. Lewis and Mr. Hunt over the years. They hate each otherโ€™s guts!โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, William isnโ€™t one to act on impulse. Give him that suggestion and heโ€™ll take it up. Itโ€™s for the sake of improving the relationship between the two companies. Continuing to fight is only going to be detrimental to the company. He knows that very well.โ€

Rachel spoke calmly, and her words reflected her clarity of mind. Cecilia couldnโ€™t help but admire her for it.

Any other woman would have blown their top, yet Rachel managed to figure out a solution at a time like this.

Cecilia had pledged her allegiance to the right person, after all.

She bit the bullet and said, โ€œAlright, donโ€™t you worry. Iโ€™m on it.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll hear from you, then.โ€

Mustering all the courage she had, Cecilia opened the door of Rachelโ€™s office and headed straight to the meeting room.

Rachel was about to turn around when she felt a dull ache in her chest. She hacked away violently, stood up, and walked out before she felt better.

The air in the office was badly ventilated. Over the past few days, she ended up coughing so badly at night that she could hardly catch her breath.

She didnโ€™t know if William heard her coughing, but until now, he showed not an iota of concern for her.

It wasnโ€™t like she was hoping for it, anyway.

Rachel glanced at the calendar and decided to visit her old home. Although she really didnโ€™t want to step in there, she thought it was the right thing to do. It would be the last time, anyway.

When Cecilia came out of the meeting room, her face was deathly pale, and she could hardly walk.

Rachel thought Cecilia was going to slump to her knees, and hurriedly reached out to hold her steady.

โ€œDid he say no?โ€

Cecilia said with trembling lips, โ€œIโ€ฆ Can youโ€ฆ pleaseโ€ฆ give me a sip of water? I need some time.โ€

Rachel was tickled pink by Ceciliaโ€™s plight.

โ€œSure, Iโ€™ll pour you some water. But you have to tell me what happened after that. Itโ€™s very important to me.โ€

If William didnโ€™t take on Ceciliaโ€™s suggestion, that meant the rivalry between him and Tyler was bound to continue, and that would only delay the progress of Project Oasis.

Rachel didnโ€™t have much time to waste.
