Her Exit 70

Listen to this chapter:

Another woman would have been charmed silly by Tylerโ€™s flirtatious and deep, sensuous voice, but that would never happen with Rachel. She knew him too well. If she were to fall into his trap, he would certainly mock her. Tyler had a mean streak, and normal people couldnโ€™t afford to mess with him.

Rachel recalled his reply to her earlier. She held herself up as best as she could and forced a smile. โ€œDidnโ€™t you say that youโ€™re busy?โ€

Tyler pulled out a cigarette from his case and put it to his lips. โ€œI am busy. I came out to do something and ended up bumping into a pitiful worm.โ€

Rachel was still having difficulties breathing. Her face was pale, and even her lips had turned white. She smiled self-derisively. โ€œI might need to trouble you to do me a favor and send me to the hospital, Mr. Hunt. Or you could call an ambulance for me. You can just leave me be, even if I lose consciousness.โ€ She sounded surprisingly calm and collected.

Tyler cast her a casual look. โ€œAre you trying to make me fall into a trap and end up being a target of cyber bullies?โ€

Rachel pressed her lips together tightly. โ€œIโ€™m not.โ€ She was in such a pathetic state; she couldnโ€™t plot against Tyler. He was such a smart man, tooโ€”she would never be able to make him fall into her trap.

Before she knew it, her knees had turned weak, and her body slumped to the ground. Tyler quickly wrapped an arm around her waist and stopped her from collapsing.

Rachel struggled to open her eyes and look at Tylerโ€™s chiseled features. He had on a black outdoor jacket, which added an aggressive edge to him.

Tyler smirked. โ€œRemember, you owe me again.โ€

He hauled Rachel in his arms, about to put her in the front passenger seat of his car, when Rachel suddenly asked, โ€œMr. Hunt, I heard that not just anyone can sit in your car?โ€

Tyler burst out laughing. โ€œYes. What of it? No guts to sit in it?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Rachel admitted it honestly. Whether as the employee of Lewis Enterprise or as the wife of William Lewis, it wasnโ€™t appropriate for her to get too involved with Tyler. If rumors were to fly, the Lewis family might cause her trouble.

Tyler went ahead and put Rachel in the front passenger seat and buckled the seat belt for her. โ€œIโ€™ll have it retrofitted into an ambulance.โ€

Rachel thought she was on the verge of death, but she couldnโ€™t hold back her laughter when she heard Tylerโ€™s joke. Rachel knew how fast he was capable of driving and wasnโ€™t surprised when he made it to the hospital in a matter of mere minutes.

She was diagnosed with a lung infection due to long-term exposure to polluted air, either at work or in her daily life. The doctor couldnโ€™t stop shaking his head at Rachelโ€™s X-ray. โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter with you, young lady? Donโ€™t you know your body?โ€

Rachel nodded awkwardly. โ€œI do. Thank you, doctor.โ€

Chapter 70

โ€œYou do, but you were so careless. Work is nothing compared to your life. This is probably a congenital lung condition. Donโ€™t do this to yourself again next time. Itโ€™s too risky.โ€ The doctor pointed at the infected part of her lung. โ€œLook hereโ€”if the situation remains unchecked, the infection will become more serious. If you get white lungs, youโ€™ll die.โ€

Rachel was truly frightened. โ€œIsโ€ฆis it really that bad?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m a doctor. Why would I scare you for no reason?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m sorry, I didnโ€™t mean that,โ€ Rachel anxiously explained herself.
