Rachel’s pupils contracted, and her heart shuddered. She had thought about this before, but she never imagined Tyler would even know about it.

She pursed her lips tightly. At this point, everything was already in Tyler’s hands. She had foolishly thought he only knew she’d gone to the bar.

Her cheeks flushed red, and she snapped at him. “So what are you trying to say now? I think all the responsibility is on you. You clearly didn’t like Anne, so why give her hope? If you’d rejected her from the start, none of this would’ve happened! At the bar, you even made promises to her. Of course she’d break down after finding out the truth!”

Rachel had truly loved someone before, so she could understand what Anne had to be feeling.

Tyler lowered his gaze slightly. He instinctively frowned, and his gaze locked onto her.

“Rachel, you really don’t know why I did it?”

Rachel subconsciously shook her head. “I honestly don’t know.”

Tyler leaned in even closer. “I just wanted to see if you actually cared about me, silly.”

His husky voice made Rachel freeze. Given Tyler’s personality, how could he possibly care about whether someone liked him or not?

It wasn’t like he lacked people who liked him.

Yet here he was, someone who never invested in feelings, actually telling her all this.

Rachel’s pupils contracted again. The void in her chest that had been there for the longest time was gradually being filled, and she didn’t even realize it.

“Tyler, do you really like me? Do you actually want to be with me? Are you really willing to leave Yurelia City with me? You’d better think this through. Once I leave, I’ll never come back,” she said seriously.

She knew, deep down, that even though Tyler said all this, he still carried scars from the lack of family love.

Tyler lifted her chin with his fingertips. “I’ve never been more sure of anything.”

His answer was firm, powerful, and without the slightest hesitation.

Rachel nodded. “Alright then, I’ll be with you.”

Hearing that, Tyler smiled in a satisfied manner. He looked at the woman he had secretly loved for so long, and still loved. The night breeze caught her hair, and without makeup, she looked effortlessly radiant.

Tyler leaned in, ready to kiss her, but Rachel pushed him back.

“Are you seriously in the mood for this right now? Go find Anne! If something happens to her, we’ll be in big trouble.”

They searched for nearly 40 minutes with no trace of Anne. Rachel realized they couldn’t keep looking together like this.

Standing on the bridge and watching the endless stream of people, her legs felt sore and weak. She turned to Tyler.

“Why don’t we split up? If we keep searching together, we’d be wasting too much time.”

Tyler still looked uneasy. “But your safety…”

They weren’t in Yurelia City anymore, where he could guarantee nothing would happen to her.

“It’s fine. I’ll call you. That way, if something does happen, you’ll know right away.”

Rachel’s suggestion made sense, and after weighing it over, Tyler finally agreed.
