Chapter 752
The moment Tyler heard this, Anne came to mind instinctively.
"Was it a woman? Did she look a little disheveled?"
"Yes, thatโs her. She didnโt look too good. You see, usually after something like this, people develop stress responses. Everyoneโs ability to handle traumatic incidents is different, so I suggest you pay close attention to her psychological state."
A flash of surprise crossed Tylerโs eyes.
"Is it that serious?"
"Donโt underestimate it."
The doctor said his piece and turned to leave.
Soon after, Jerry made his way there.
"Rachel!"
Seeing Jerry so anxious, Tyler tried to calm him down.
"Thereโs no big issue for now, but she still needs to be observed. Donโt worry."
Jerry had already gotten a rough idea of what had happened on his way there. He clenched his jaw tight.
"Iโm going to butcher those bastards!"
As soon as he said it, he was ready to storm out of the room, but Tyler quickly stopped him.
"If something happens, the police will handle it. If you kill someone, youโll go to prison. When Rachel wakes up, how am I supposed to explain that to her? Besides, if she had actually been hurt, I wouldnโt even try to stop you. But now sheโs fine, so just sit down. Donโt worry, Iโll make sure those people pay the price."
But Jerry clearly didnโt buy Tylerโs words. Instead, he snorted.
"Mr. Hunt, I know youโre mighty influential in Yurelia City, but this isnโt your turf. And Iโve already heard that guy they call Sawyer has relatives in the police department. Even the strongest outsider canโt overpower the locals."
Jerryโs heart had already gone cold. He had seen it too many times. Once the police were done, those men would walk away free.
"Waterโฆ"
Both men were still caught up in figuring out what to do when a weak voice suddenly sounded.
Tyler and Jerry turned to Rachel at the same time, shouting her name in unison.
"Rachel!"
She still looked frail. Her face was pale. Her delicate frame now carried an even more fragile, sickly air.
Tyler patted Jerryโs shoulder. "Stay with her, Iโll get some water."
"Alright."
Tyler hurried to find a cup, filled it with water, and came back. One hand supported Rachelโs back while the other lifted the glass to her lips.
Her lips were cracked and dry. Her throat felt like it was on fire. The moment she felt the water, she drank desperately.
Watching her gulp it down, Tyler grew worried she might choke.
"Slow down, no oneโs taking it from you."
When Rachel finally finished the glass, that dry burning eased a little. She glanced around the hospital room and asked Tyler, "Whereโs Ms. Charlton?"
At the mention of Anne, Tylerโs expression changed slightly.
"Sheโs in the next room getting her wounds treated."
Rachel immediately caught on from his reaction that he must have quarreled with Anne, but she didnโt point it out.
Instead, she said, "Iโm fine now. You should go check on her. After all, sheโs still a business partner, and she used to be your colleague."
"Alright. You rest first. Iโll go check."
Tyler had just opened the door when he saw Anne.
Her eyes were still red, clearly from crying.
Without sparing him a glance, she walked straight past Tyler and headed for Rachel.
The atmosphere in the room instantly grew tense.
