Chapter 763

Tyler glanced at the mayor, then asked Yale, โ€œAre you sure thatโ€™s the case?โ€

โ€œYes, Iโ€™m sure about it,โ€ Yale replied.

โ€œGot it. Make the necessary arrangements and make haste.โ€

With Yaleโ€™s brief and succinct report, Tyler knew what was going on.

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

Yale walked out with his phone in his hand. The next thing he had to do was easy enough. All that was needed was a phone callโ€“he didnโ€™t even need to make a trip elsewhere.

Jeremy looked at Sawyer, his aura imposing.

โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€

The moment Sawyer saw Jeremy, he burst into tears and started whining like a disgruntled housewife.

โ€œJeremy, they bullied me! I was having fun with my friends at the beach when these two women came up to us, asking us if we were interested in them.

โ€œWeโ€™re young men in the prime of our youth, so of course we have desires of that sort. They were the ones who suggested doing it on the beach, but they ended up accusing us! How were we in the wrong? Her friend then came over and beat us up. Look at the bruises he left on my face!โ€

Anger burned in Jeremyโ€™s chest when he saw the bruises on Sawyerโ€™s face.

โ€œDo you people have any regard for the law? Seducing a man and trying to accuse him of sexual assault? Well, youโ€™re barking up the wrong tree!โ€

Jeremy was speaking to Rachel and Anne and didnโ€™t notice Tyler seated on a chair. He looked worlds apart from the two women, anyway.

Anne didnโ€™t dare to say a word as she hid behind Rachel.

Rachel fearlessly started trying to talk sense to Jeremy.

โ€œIf youโ€™re here to talk reason and show proof, we can talk things through and wonโ€™t slander this monster. But if youโ€™re trying to use your power and position to oppress others and stand up for the wicked, we have nothing more to talk about today. Things go viral so easily online. If word that a person of power chose to cover up his family and suppress the truth spreads, do you think youโ€™ll be able to hold onto your position?โ€

Jeremy scoffed, not caring much about Rachelโ€™s threat.

โ€œYoung lady, do you think Iโ€™ve never been threatened in my whole life? People are really getting ridiculous nowadays, trying to hold other people accountable for their own faults.โ€

Jeremy sauntered toward a chair and sat on it with an air of relaxed calm. An officer immediately shot his subordinate a look. Very soon, he came back with a tea tray.

โ€œMr. Chase, have some tea. You must be getting thirsty after the journey here.โ€

โ€œNo need. I have something else to attend to after this. I just have one question for you: where is the evidence and the witness?โ€ Jeremy said with a wave of his hand.

โ€œItโ€™s like this, sir. Although we donโ€™t have evidence to prove that these two women deliberately seduced the men, stall owners in the vicinity can testify that Sawyer did not attempt to sexually assault them.โ€

โ€œThat makes things very clear, then. Thereโ€™s no proof that Sawyer wants to sexually assault your two friends. In other words, theyโ€™re falsely accusing him. Also, you donโ€™t have any witnesses to testify that what youโ€™re saying is the truth. You donโ€™t have any evidence and not even one witness.โ€

Jeremyโ€™s eyes were filled with confidence. No matter what, evidence and witnesses were critical. If they had neither, everything they said would be pointless.
