Anne was fearful of Jeremy’s power and influence, but his words irked her.

She retorted, “Don’t you know the power of your influence? The nearby stall owners know you’re in a position of power and that he’s your brother-in-law. Who would dare offend you two? They’d pretend they saw nothing, even if they really did!”

“Exactly! You think you’re so powerful, you can subvert justice,” Rachel added, looking approvingly at Anne.

Anne was finally growing a spine. Rachel almost couldn’t stand the sight of Anne being weak and cowardly.

Jeremy scoffed, not giving a damn about the two women.

“Fine! Since you two ladies are so confident, show me your evidence. Didn’t you accuse Sawyer of having ill intentions? Do you have the most direct evidence? How about some witnesses? Please don’t tell me that you two are the witnesses. You two are victims. You don’t suffice as witnesses.”

Rachel and Anne exchanged glances, stumped by Jeremy’s question.

At that time, everything was a blur. All they could think of was saving themselves. They clearly didn’t have the time or energy to collect the evidence they needed for the future.

Sawyer turned around to the policemen.

“You’ve seen for yourselves the situation right now. They have no evidence, but I have proof that I didn’t do anything to them. They were the ones who came knocking on my door. Why are women nowadays becoming like this? Trying to fleece men by seducing them… I really think you two should stop doing that. Your family would get upset if they were to find out.”

Sawyer started lecturing Rachel and Anne.

Rachel almost fainted with anger from Sawyer’s shameless words. She rubbed her temple, trying to ease the dull pain throbbing in her head.

“Do you know what nonsense you’re talking about? Twisting facts and muddying the waters! How could a beast like you exist in this world?”

“Alright, since this case is clear, hurry up and close it. We don’t have time to waste here,” Jeremy said as he crossed his legs, as though the matter was closed.

“Yes, of course. Since the situation is clear and you ladies don’t have proof that he sexually assaulted you two, you either drop this or we’ll have to detain you for a couple of days,” said the police.

Rachel was deeply upset. “Is this how a local police station conducts its investigations? In that case, I think I have the responsibility to expose your conduct!”
