Chapter 773

Anne and Sheryn looked at Rachel, eyes wide with shock.

Rachel didnโ€™t expect to get caught eavesdropping.

The three ladies exchanged glances.

Finally, Anne explained anxiously, โ€œUmโ€ฆ Ms. Lloyd, you should know Ms. Lyons, right? Sheโ€™s Tylerโ€™s cousin.โ€

Rachel crossed her arms, leaned against the nearby table, and surveyed Sheryn from head to toe.

โ€œOf course, I do. Come to think of it, you have nothing to do with Tyler now. Or did you run out of the money Howard gave you?โ€

Rachel admitted that her words werenโ€™t pleasant. Sheryn had given false testimony to help Howard. Although that matter was still unresolved, Rachel believed the truth would come to light one day.

Sheryn scoffed, her face sullen as it always was whenever she saw Rachel.

โ€œDonโ€™t give me that! Iโ€™ve long broken off contact with Howard Ziegler. That fool is no match for my cousin. Thatโ€™s all there is to him. It wonโ€™t take long for him to fall from glory.โ€

Rachel wasnโ€™t in the mood to listen to Sherynโ€™s explanation. In fact, she didnโ€™t even want to look at Sheryn.

โ€œI donโ€™t actually have a say in what ultimately happens to you. I think youโ€™d better ask your cousin instead. To think you two are in cahoots with Sawyerโ€ฆโ€

Rachel was poker-faced, but her languid gaze somehow felt imposing.

Sheryn saw Rachel make a move to call Tyler and immediately stopped her.

โ€œDonโ€™t! Please donโ€™t tell Tyler Iโ€™m here, and donโ€™t tell him about my involvement in this matter! Look, youโ€™re fine now, right? Why bother holding a grudge against me?โ€

Sheryn tried to smooth things over, but it only made the fire in Rachelโ€™s chest burn brighter.

She burst out laughing and looked at Sheryn in disdain.

โ€œMs. Lyons, do you have a screw loose? Or do you think I have? You and Anne put on such a grand show just to do me in! Itโ€™s mercy on my part not to immediately call the police on you. How dare you tell me to cover up for you?!โ€

Sheryn was so panicked that she thought it was a good idea to ask Rachel to cover up for her. She didnโ€™t consider the fact that Rachel would be eager to expose her to Tyler to get rid of another love rival.

Right now, the only person she could pin her hopes on was Anne.

Sheryn tugged the hem of Anneโ€™s shirt and gave her a look, whispering, โ€œDonโ€™t you think very highly of her? Talk to her about it!โ€

Anne stepped forward. With an ingratiating smile at Rachel, she said, โ€œMs. Lloyd, this is actually just a misunderstanding. Itโ€™s not as complicated as you think it is. Can you give her another chance?โ€

Rachel was taller than both Anne and Sheryn and exuded a cold, distant aura. She looked down at Anne.

โ€œMs. Charlton, weโ€™ve hung out for a few days. Aside from me being your love rival, we donโ€™t have much against each other. You were complicit in Sherynโ€™s wrongdoing and didnโ€™t even mind implicating yourself. Is it really worth it?โ€

Anne tried to explain her perspective. โ€œWe only wanted to scare you! We didnโ€™t mean any harm. Please donโ€™t misunderstand.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not misunderstanding anything. Ms. Charlton, we still have a collaboration between us. I hope you wonโ€™t be too involved in it. But donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll make my stance clear. We wonโ€™t be negligent on the tasks or processes weโ€™re responsible for, or let personal matters affect work progress and quality.โ€
