Chapter 788

"Yeah."

Tyler knew full well the police couldnโ€™t really help with this. Unless they resolved what Wilma saw as the problem, this whole mess wouldnโ€™t end.

He stepped forward again and tried to reason with her.

โ€œAunt Wilma, calm down. If you jump now, youโ€™ll never see Sheryn again. What she did wasnโ€™t unforgivable. At worst, sheโ€™ll be inside for a year or two. Itโ€™s not like sheโ€™s locked away for life.โ€

Even with that, Wilma wasnโ€™t satisfied. โ€œDonโ€™t lie to me! If you hadnโ€™t pressed charges, none of this wouldโ€™ve happened! Rachelโ€™s fine anyway, isnโ€™t she?โ€

Tyler repeated, โ€œEven if I wanted to withdraw now, itโ€™s too late. The police already filed the case.โ€

โ€œWhat?! You mean you canโ€™t undo it now? My daughterโ€™s definitely going to prison!โ€ Hearing that, Wilma broke down. Holding her head in both hands, she sobbed hysterically. โ€œThis is all your fault! Tyler, you ruined my daughter, so Iโ€™ll ruin you!โ€

Before anyone could react, she leaped.

Tylerโ€™s pupils dilated as he instinctively reached for her, only to grab nothing but air.

Just when everyone thought it was too late, a pair of hands caught Wilma.

Tylerโ€™s pupils contractedโ€“it was Rachel who held Wilma.

He lunged forward and grabbed Rachel immediately. His expression was dark as he shouted at her, โ€œRachel, are you out of your mind?โ€

Clinging to Wilmaโ€™s arm, Rachel was straining so hard she could barely speak. โ€œIf you want to yell at me, save it for later. Help me pull her up first.โ€

Tyler gave her a cold look. โ€œWeโ€™ll settle this later.โ€

The other officers rushed over too and tried to drag Wilma up, but she fought against them.

โ€œIf you donโ€™t let me see my daughter, Iโ€™m jumping right now!โ€

With that, Wilma started breaking free from Rachelโ€™s hold.

Rachel blurted quickly, โ€œI have a solution! Just come up first. I can get you in to see her.โ€

Wilmaโ€™s eyes flickered with hope. โ€œAre you being serious? Can you let me see my daughter? How long will it take?โ€

โ€œRight away. If you come up now, Iโ€™ll make it happen immediately.โ€

Tyler looked at Rachel with surprise.

Wilma was stunned for a moment, but she soon felt suspicious.

โ€œYouโ€™re not lying to me again, are you? Tyler just said sheโ€™s already in custody. Even if they released her now, itโ€™d take two or three hours before she got here. Are you lying again?โ€

Rachelโ€™s palms were drenched in sweat. She was barely 100 pounds, holding on to a woman over 110 pounds. She was doing all she could not to slip, terrified that one wrong move would send Wilma falling.

She gasped for air.

โ€œJust get up first. If you think Iโ€™m lying, then you can jump later, okay?โ€

The words almost made Rachel laugh at herself, but it was the only way to coax Wilma.

Finally, Wilma agreed. With several people pulling together, they managed to drag her up.

Rachelโ€™s legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the ground.

Tyler steadied her by the waist and leaned close to murmur in her ear.

โ€œWhat exactly is your plan? Everyone already said that even if they push it through, itโ€™ll take at least a day. Look at her. She canโ€™t even wait three hours, let alone a day. You only bought us some time. The real problem is how youโ€™re going to keep her calm after this.โ€
