Chapter 788
"Yeah."
Tyler knew full well the police couldnโt really help with this. Unless they resolved what Wilma saw as the problem, this whole mess wouldnโt end.
He stepped forward again and tried to reason with her.
โAunt Wilma, calm down. If you jump now, youโll never see Sheryn again. What she did wasnโt unforgivable. At worst, sheโll be inside for a year or two. Itโs not like sheโs locked away for life.โ
Even with that, Wilma wasnโt satisfied. โDonโt lie to me! If you hadnโt pressed charges, none of this wouldโve happened! Rachelโs fine anyway, isnโt she?โ
Tyler repeated, โEven if I wanted to withdraw now, itโs too late. The police already filed the case.โ
โWhat?! You mean you canโt undo it now? My daughterโs definitely going to prison!โ Hearing that, Wilma broke down. Holding her head in both hands, she sobbed hysterically. โThis is all your fault! Tyler, you ruined my daughter, so Iโll ruin you!โ
Before anyone could react, she leaped.
Tylerโs pupils dilated as he instinctively reached for her, only to grab nothing but air.
Just when everyone thought it was too late, a pair of hands caught Wilma.
Tylerโs pupils contractedโit was Rachel who held Wilma.
He lunged forward and grabbed Rachel immediately. His expression was dark as he shouted at her, โRachel, are you out of your mind?โ
Clinging to Wilmaโs arm, Rachel was straining so hard she could barely speak. โIf you want to yell at me, save it for later. Help me pull her up first.โ
Tyler gave her a cold look. โWeโll settle this later.โ
The other officers rushed over too and tried to drag Wilma up, but she fought against them.
โIf you donโt let me see my daughter, Iโm jumping right now!โ
With that, Wilma started breaking free from Rachelโs hold.
Rachel blurted quickly, โI have a solution! Just come up first. I can get you in to see her.โ
Wilmaโs eyes flickered with hope. โAre you being serious? Can you let me see my daughter? How long will it take?โ
โRight away. If you come up now, Iโll make it happen immediately.โ
Tyler looked at Rachel with surprise.
Wilma was stunned for a moment, but she soon felt suspicious.
โYouโre not lying to me again, are you? Tyler just said sheโs already in custody. Even if they released her now, itโd take two or three hours before she got here. Are you lying again?โ
Rachelโs palms were drenched in sweat. She was barely 100 pounds, holding on to a woman over 110 pounds. She was doing all she could not to slip, terrified that one wrong move would send Wilma falling.
She gasped for air.
โJust get up first. If you think Iโm lying, then you can jump later, okay?โ
The words almost made Rachel laugh at herself, but it was the only way to coax Wilma.
Finally, Wilma agreed. With several people pulling together, they managed to drag her up.
Rachelโs legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the ground.
Tyler steadied her by the waist and leaned close to murmur in her ear.
โWhat exactly is your plan? Everyone already said that even if they push it through, itโll take at least a day. Look at her. She canโt even wait three hours, let alone a day. You only bought us some time. The real problem is how youโre going to keep her calm after this.โ
