Chapter 791

Tyler noticed that Wilma was completely absorbed in her call with Sheryn, so he quickly went over to the police.

โ€œI think the timingโ€™s right. You guys can move in now.โ€

The officers exchanged glances and nodded.

โ€œAlright, letโ€™s do it.โ€

Wilma was still crying to her daughter and didnโ€™t notice the officers circling her from behind. Tears and snot ran down her face while she sobbed.

โ€œSheryn, how am I supposed to live without you?โ€

Suddenly, several cops rushed in and grabbed her from behind. Wilma was so startled that she lost her grip, and the phone slipped to the ground.

โ€œMy phone!โ€

Rachelโ€™s eyes widened.

Tyler quickly pulled her close. โ€œItโ€™s fine. Iโ€™ll buy you another one.โ€

Rachel frowned. โ€œItโ€™s not that. I had a lot of important files in there.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll find a way to recover them later.โ€

Tyler gently rubbed her back while trying to calm her down.

Rachel glanced over and saw Wilma being taken into custody. At least she was safe now. The files could be dealt with later.

For now, no one had gotten hurt, and that was what mattered.

Still, Rachel couldnโ€™t shake the worry. Sure, Wilma was rescued this time, but what if she couldnโ€™t handle it later and tried jumping again? Nobody had the time or energy to keep going through this over and over.

She patted Tylerโ€™s hand. โ€œWait for me a second. Iโ€™m going to talk to her.โ€

Tyler pulled her back.

โ€œSheโ€™s still too emotional. What if she lashes out?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. She may have been crying nonstop, but she was really listening to Sheryn just now,โ€ Rachel said reassuringly.

After easing Tylerโ€™s concerns, she walked up to Wilma.

โ€œYouโ€™ve talked to your daughter now. You should understand the reality of it. Donโ€™t blame me anymore. You heard Tyler. He never had feelings for Sheryn, so itโ€™s not like I stole her happiness. And even if she escaped this time, she wonโ€™t stay lucky forever. Sooner or later, sheโ€™ll get caught. If she killed me, her life would be over completely.

โ€œSheโ€™d be branded a murderer, and not even dying alongside her would change that.

โ€œSo think about it. Right now, things havenโ€™t spiraled completely out of control. Thereโ€™s still a chance to fix it. If you wait until she makes a bigger mistake, do you really think itโ€™ll be as simple as it is today?โ€

Wilma didnโ€™t respond, but deep down, she knew Rachel was right.

Even if she died right there in front of everyone, it wouldnโ€™t change the fact that Sheryn had already committed crimes. There was no undoing that.

The only thing left for her was to wait at home, hire a good lawyer, and hope for a lighter sentence.

She had wanted to use this moment to pressure Tyler into letting Sheryn go, but now she realized that was impossible. She had no choice but to face reality.

Without another word, Wilma was escorted away by the police.

The crowd began to disperse. Although no one was hurt, the incident still made the news.

Very quickly, the public uproar flared up all over again.

Sitting in Tylerโ€™s office and watching it unfold, Rachel just felt exhausted. She finally understood what people meant by โ€˜when it rains, it pours.โ€™
