Rachel rubbed her temples, and Tyler handed her a cup of coffee he had brewed himself.

“Drink some iced coffee. It’ll soothe your throat. It’s scorching outside. Are you feeling okay? I see sweat breaking out on your forehead.”

Tyler reached out to check her temperature. Worry was written all over his face.

Rachel brushed his hand away and tilted her head up at him.

“Forget about me for now. Look at your phone. Media outlets are already blowing this thing up. The company has just started to recover, and now we’re dragged right back into it.”

“It’s fine. Didn’t we already talk about this? I’ll go wherever you want to go. As for the company, I’ll just walk away.”

Tyler’s voice was calm, like it wasn’t some carefully weighed decision at all but rather something that came to him on a whim.

Rachel hadn’t taken his words seriously the first time. Although she had been touched, she assumed it was impossible.

But now, hearing him repeat it, she realized he might actually mean it. She looked at him seriously.

“Tyler, are you telling me the truth?”

He raised a brow. “You think I’m joking with you?”

Rachel froze while she tried to process this. She touched his forehead to check.

“You don’t have a fever, do you? Do you even realize what you’re saying? You’d give up a company this big? Tyler, please calm down. Neither of us is the type to just abandon our careers. It took so much for us to get here.”

Tyler wrapped his arms around her.

“I don’t want to be apart from you, Rachel. Don’t you get it? I’d rather give up my career. I can start over anywhere, but you’re different. Rachel, you’re one-of-a-kind. LS Enterprise can always be rebuilt. But if I lose you, there’s no getting you back.”

Caught off guard, Rachel felt her heart clench at his words. Tyler wasn’t someone who usually voiced his feelings, so when he did, the impact hit even harder.

Sometimes she even doubted whether what he said was real, because it didn’t match his nature. ‘Tyler and deeply devoted’ weren’t exactly things that went together.

Rachel tilted her head and eyed him with suspicion. She quickly did the math and blurted out in shock, “You mean to tell me you’ve liked me all this time? Tyler, are you saying you’ve secretly had feelings for me since ten years ago?”

Tyler looked into her wide, astonished eyes. Sunlight spilled through the window and cast a golden glow around her, making her look radiant.

“What, are you suddenly proud that I’ve been secretly in love with you? Should I grab a megaphone and announce it?”

“No, it’s just hard to believe.”

Men like Tyler should’ve been surrounded by women, drowning in attention. By all logic, he should’ve been chasing flings, not pining after her since college.

And to think, all these years, he hadn’t dated anyone else.

It sounded too far-fetched to be real.
