Chapter 792
Rachel rubbed her temples, and Tyler handed her a cup of coffee he had brewed himself.
โDrink some iced coffee. Itโll soothe your throat. Itโs scorching outside. Are you feeling okay? I see sweat breaking out on your forehead.โ
Tyler reached out to check her temperature. Worry was written all over his face.
Rachel brushed his hand away and tilted her head up at him.
โForget about me for now. Look at your phone. Media outlets are already blowing this thing up. The company has just started to recover, and now weโre dragged right back into it.โ
โItโs fine. Didnโt we already talk about this? Iโll go wherever you want to go. As for the company, Iโll just walk away.โ
Tylerโs voice was calm, like it wasnโt some carefully weighed decision at all but rather something that came to him on a whim.
Rachel hadnโt taken his words seriously the first time. Although she had been touched, she assumed it was impossible.
But now, hearing him repeat it, she realized he might actually mean it. She looked at him seriously.
โTyler, are you telling me the truth?โ
He raised a brow. โYou think Iโm joking with you?โ
Rachel froze while she tried to process this. She touched his forehead to check.
โYou donโt have a fever, do you? Do you even realize what youโre saying? Youโd give up a company this big? Tyler, please calm down. Neither of us is the type to just abandon our careers. It took so much for us to get here.โ
Tyler wrapped his arms around her.
โI donโt want to be apart from you, Rachel. Donโt you get it? Iโd rather give up my career. I can start over anywhere, but youโre different. Rachel, youโre one-of-a-kind. LS Enterprise can always be rebuilt. But if I lose you, thereโs no getting you back.โ
Caught off guard, Rachel felt her heart clench at his words. Tyler wasnโt someone who usually voiced his feelings, so when he did, the impact hit even harder.
Sometimes she even doubted whether what he said was real, because it didnโt match his nature. โTyler and deeply devotedโ werenโt exactly things that went together.
Rachel tilted her head and eyed him with suspicion. She quickly did the math and blurted out in shock, โYou mean to tell me youโve liked me all this time? Tyler, are you saying youโve secretly had feelings for me since ten years ago?โ
Tyler looked into her wide, astonished eyes. Sunlight spilled through the window and cast a golden glow around her, making her look radiant.
โWhat, are you suddenly proud that Iโve been secretly in love with you? Should I grab a megaphone and announce it?โ
โNo, itโs just hard to believe.โ
Men like Tyler shouldโve been surrounded by women, drowning in attention. By all logic, he shouldโve been chasing flings, not pining after her since college.
And to think, all these years, he hadnโt dated anyone else.
It sounded too far-fetched to be real.
