Chapter 804
โOne more thing. The agreement makes it very clear. You give up your right to inherit Lloyd Enterprise and stay out of anything related to the Lloyd family,โ Rachel said.
Yvette jerked her head up and tossed the document aside.
โRachel, who do you think you are to treat me like this? That belongs to the Lloyd family! Iโm part of it. Itโs rightfully mine!โ
โRightfully?โ Rachel sneered. โWhen you and Sasha ganged up to get the doctor to falsify Dadโs mental health report, did you ever once think about being a loyal daughter?โ
Rachel stepped closer and forced Yvette back.
โNext time, you wonโt get off this easy, Yvette. If you want to keep walking down the path to ruin, be my guest.โ
At that moment, Jerry handed Rachel another document. It contained Sashaโs testimony, with detailed notes of how she and Yvette had schemed to steal the family assets.
Yvetteโs face turned pale.
โSign it, and youโll still have a way to survive.โ Rachelโs tone was cold. โIf you try anything funny again, it wonโt just be detention next time.โ
Above them, the wind rustled through the treetops, sending a few yellowed leaves fluttering down.
Yvette stared at the document for a long time. Her nails dug deep into her palms. Finally, clenching her jaw, she signed her name at the bottom.
Rachel took the document from her hands, opened the car door, and was about to leave when Yvette called after her.
โWhy did you suddenly decide to let me out?โ
Rachel froze for just a moment. โThat has nothing to do with you.โ
Yvette sneered. โMust be some dirty little secret. From what I know about you, thereโs no way youโd let me off this easily.โ
โIf you already know I had no intention of letting you out, then youโd better behave yourself. Because if I can get you released, I can put you right back in.โ
With that, Rachel got into the car, and it pulled away quickly.
Yvette stood there, watching as it disappeared down the road.
She then realized the detention center was so remote that there wasnโt even a bus stop nearby. How was she supposed to get back? She didnโt have a cent on her!
Rachel was despicable for driving all the way out here, but not even giving her a ride. How was she supposed to make it home now?
Meanwhile, in the car, Rachel was starting to feel a little unwell. Maybe it was the heat.
Jerry passed her a bottle of water. โDrink some. The weatherโs pretty stuffy.โ
โIโm fine. Compared to us, Yvetteโs the one who should be panicking. After all, she has to walk back.โ
It was a small punishment, but one that might teach Yvette a lasting lesson.
Jerry kept his hands on the wheel, but he seemed distracted.
โI really am worried. With the way Yvette is, do you think sheโll change? What if she goes back to her old ways like before?โ
โDonโt worry. Iโll have people watching her around the clock. If she makes a move, Iโll know before she even gets the chance to act.โ
Jerry finally relaxed at that. Rachelโs approach wasnโt a bad strategy at all. Prevention was the best defense.
Just then, Rachelโs phone buzzed. She glanced down.
It was Tyler calling.
Was he checking up on her?
She quickly looked out the window. They were already far from the detention center, so there shouldnโt be any reason for suspicion. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she answered calmly.
โWhatโs up?โ
Whatever Tyler said on the other end made Rachelโs expression grow darker and darker. Jerry could see it clearly in the rearview mirror.
He asked instinctively, โRachel, what happened?โ
