Chapter 807
โYouโre right. My dad was ill, but he had been doing well recently. Yet, news of his death came this afternoonโright after my sister saw him this morning. I asked the servants about this.
โThey told me that my dadโs been doing well. He could probably last a while longer. After my sister visited him in the morning, the servants said he started looking worse for wear. He was in very low spirits and didnโt even take his medicine. He shut himself up in his room, and his heart stopped beating at around 12.30 pm. He didnโt even leave a final word behind.โ
Yvette looked around her and went on, full of confidence.
โIf you donโt believe me, ask the servants in my household about it! Everyone in the house knows that Iโm not making this up. You can see it at a glance.โ
At the look of certainty in Yvetteโs eyes, doubts started growing in everyoneโs minds.
โDid Rachel provoke Jim over inheritance issues?โ
โItโs hard to tell. I heard that his two daughters have been fighting over that.โ
โIf itโs really because of that, someone really needs to get to the bottom of the matter.โ
โYes! How could we let the Lloyd family assets end up in the hands of someone like that?โ
Tylerโs dark gaze swept across everyone who was criticizing Rachel as though she had already been convicted of the crime.
He glared at Yvette, his voice colder than a winterโs night as he sneered, โYou told me your sister was the one who dropped charges and let you out. Yet here you are, slandering her before your relatives?โ
Yvette furrowed her brows pitifully, looking exceedingly indignant.
โI didnโt say anything except the truth. Mr. Hunt, I know you like my sister, but we have to talk about reason and facts.โ
โYou want to talk about reason and facts, is that it?โ
A storm was brewing in Tylerโs originally calm eyes as rage grew in his chest. The aura he exuded made the air around them freeze.
โI wonder if your relatives know that you once hired someone to kill your sister? Youโve been enjoying life over the past few years. Are you tired of that freedom now?โ
Yvette didnโt expect Tyler to expose her past deeds in front of so many people. Anxiety flashed past the depths of her eyes, but she quickly recovered.
Chapter 808
โWhat nonsense are you talking about? Since when did I hire someone to kill my sister?โ
Tyler took a step forward, his aura imposing and intimidating. He glared daggers at Yvette, as though trying to see through her.
โYvette Lloyd, itโs pointless to deny it. The facts are laid bare before us. Anyone who takes the effort to look into this will be able to find out why youโve been detained recently. Rachel wanted to give you a second chance out of the goodness of her heart, but youโre ungrateful and heartless. Since youโre tired of living, then go to hell!โ
A chill crept down Yvetteโs spine, and her face turned pale.
Despite that growing fear, she refused to admit her mistake.
โYouโre slandering me and making baseless claims! Do you think other people will believe what you say of me?โ
However, the tricks Yvette had up her sleeves were childโs play to Tyler.
With narrowed eyes, he spat, โDo you want Jerry here to explain things to everyone?โ
The mention of Jerryโs name made Yvette sweat profusely.
Before Tyler could call Jerry in, Jerry walked in of his own accord.
โI can prove that Yvette once intended to hire someone to kill Rachel, because Iโm the one she hired,โ he said loudly.
โWhat?โ
โDamn, what did I just hear? This man said that he was the hitman Yvette hired to kill Rachel! But isnโt he Rachelโs assistant?โ
โHeโs the one who called me to tell me that Mr. Lloyd passed away.
โThis is the oddest thing Iโve ever heard in my entire life! In other words, the man who tried to kill Rachel eventually became her assistant.โ
โRachel is way too bold! How is this any different from having a ticking time bomb by her side?โ
โExactly. I wonder what sheโs thinking.โ
Yvette didnโt expect Jerry to be here today and was at a loss for words.
Jerry looked disdainfully at Yvette.
โYvette Lloyd, youโre disgusting through and through! Rachel had you released out of the kindness and mercy of her heart. Yet here you are, slandering her in front of your relatives at the very next second.โ
Yvette tilted her chin up high and scoffed, refusing to admit her mistake.
โJerry, do you think theyโll believe you when youโre in cahoots with Rachel to slander me? You donโt even have any evidence! What nonsense are you spouting?โ
โTalking about evidence now, are you?โ Tyler snarled icily; he lifted a hand and signalled to Yale standing behind him.
Yvetteโs sharp voice, filled with vitriol, came from a device.
โJerry, the money I gave you should be sufficient for the rest of your life. You donโt have many days left anyway, so just take this money and enjoy your final days. As long as youโre careful, nothing will happen. No one knows that you injected that. She didnโt feel any pain, either.โ
Yale pressed the stop button.
All the blood left Yvetteโs face as she stumbled backward. She started rambling.
โHowโฆhow did you get hold of that recording? Impossibleโฆ Thatโs impossibleโฆ!โ
Tyler smirked as his eyes narrowed dangerously. โYou just had no idea. Donโt think that youโre the only smart one in this entire world.โ
Yvette was beginning to feel scared. At the next moment, however, she began to act arrogantly again.
โDo you have a screw loose up there? Whatโs the point of investigating me? You dropped charges, and I was acquitted. You have no right to sue me again!โ
โDo you really think this is the only way we can convict you of your wrongdoing?โ Tyler sneered.
He opened up his palm before Yale, who placed a folder in his hand. He waved the folder in front of Yvette.
โDo you know whatโs in here? Donโt worry, I can tell you all about it. You falsified the accounts in Lloyd Enterprise and received many bribes from competitors. Once I submit the evidence, youโll have to be detained once more. This time, you wonโt be released just because your sister decides not to press charges.โ
Yvette was familiar with the law and knew exactly what Tyler meant. She stumbled back in fear.
โYโYou fabricated the evidence, Iโm sure! Iโm going to sue you for thatโฆโ
