Chapter 807

“You’re right. My dad was ill, but he had been doing well recently. Yet, news of his death came this afternoon–right after my sister saw him this morning. I asked the servants about this.

“They told me that my dad’s been doing well. He could probably last a while longer. After my sister visited him in the morning, the servants said he started looking worse for wear. He was in very low spirits and didn’t even take his medicine. He shut himself up in his room, and his heart stopped beating at around 12.30 pm. He didn’t even leave a final word behind.”

Yvette looked around her and went on, full of confidence.

“If you don’t believe me, ask the servants in my household about it! Everyone in the house knows that I’m not making this up. You can see it at a glance.”

At the look of certainty in Yvette’s eyes, doubts started growing in everyone’s minds.

“Did Rachel provoke Jim over inheritance issues?”

“It’s hard to tell. I heard that his two daughters have been fighting over that.”

“If it’s really because of that, someone really needs to get to the bottom of the matter.”

“Yes! How could we let the Lloyd family assets end up in the hands of someone like that?”

Tyler’s dark gaze swept across everyone who was criticizing Rachel as though she had already been convicted of the crime.

He glared at Yvette, his voice colder than a winter’s night as he sneered, “You told me your sister was the one who dropped charges and let you out. Yet here you are, slandering her before your relatives?”

Yvette furrowed her brows pitifully, looking exceedingly indignant.

“I didn’t say anything except the truth. Mr. Hunt, I know you like my sister, but we have to talk about reason and facts.”

“You want to talk about reason and facts, is that it?”

A storm was brewing in Tyler’s originally calm eyes as rage grew in his chest. The aura he exuded made the air around them freeze.

“I wonder if your relatives know that you once hired someone to kill your sister? You’ve been enjoying life over the past few years. Are you tired of that freedom now?”

Yvette didn’t expect Tyler to expose her past deeds in front of so many people. Anxiety flashed past the depths of her eyes, but she quickly recovered.

Chapter 808

“What nonsense are you talking about? Since when did I hire someone to kill my sister?”

Tyler took a step forward, his aura imposing and intimidating. He glared daggers at Yvette, as though trying to see through her.

“Yvette Lloyd, it’s pointless to deny it. The facts are laid bare before us. Anyone who takes the effort to look into this will be able to find out why you’ve been detained recently. Rachel wanted to give you a second chance out of the goodness of her heart, but you’re ungrateful and heartless. Since you’re tired of living, then go to hell!”

A chill crept down Yvette’s spine, and her face turned pale.

Despite that growing fear, she refused to admit her mistake.

“You’re slandering me and making baseless claims! Do you think other people will believe what you say of me?”

However, the tricks Yvette had up her sleeves were child’s play to Tyler.

With narrowed eyes, he spat, “Do you want Jerry here to explain things to everyone?”

The mention of Jerry’s name made Yvette sweat profusely.

Before Tyler could call Jerry in, Jerry walked in of his own accord.

“I can prove that Yvette once intended to hire someone to kill Rachel, because I’m the one she hired,” he said loudly.

“What?”

“Damn, what did I just hear? This man said that he was the hitman Yvette hired to kill Rachel! But isn’t he Rachel’s assistant?”

“He’s the one who called me to tell me that Mr. Lloyd passed away.

“This is the oddest thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life! In other words, the man who tried to kill Rachel eventually became her assistant.”

“Rachel is way too bold! How is this any different from having a ticking time bomb by her side?”

“Exactly. I wonder what she’s thinking.”

Yvette didn’t expect Jerry to be here today and was at a loss for words.

Jerry looked disdainfully at Yvette.

“Yvette Lloyd, you’re disgusting through and through! Rachel had you released out of the kindness and mercy of her heart. Yet here you are, slandering her in front of your relatives at the very next second.”

Yvette tilted her chin up high and scoffed, refusing to admit her mistake.

“Jerry, do you think they’ll believe you when you’re in cahoots with Rachel to slander me? You don’t even have any evidence! What nonsense are you spouting?”

“Talking about evidence now, are you?” Tyler snarled icily; he lifted a hand and signalled to Yale standing behind him.

Yvette’s sharp voice, filled with vitriol, came from a device.

“Jerry, the money I gave you should be sufficient for the rest of your life. You don’t have many days left anyway, so just take this money and enjoy your final days. As long as you’re careful, nothing will happen. No one knows that you injected that. She didn’t feel any pain, either.”

Yale pressed the stop button.

All the blood left Yvette’s face as she stumbled backward. She started rambling.

“How…how did you get hold of that recording? Impossible… That’s impossible…!”

Tyler smirked as his eyes narrowed dangerously. “You just had no idea. Don’t think that you’re the only smart one in this entire world.”

Yvette was beginning to feel scared. At the next moment, however, she began to act arrogantly again.

“Do you have a screw loose up there? What’s the point of investigating me? You dropped charges, and I was acquitted. You have no right to sue me again!”

“Do you really think this is the only way we can convict you of your wrongdoing?” Tyler sneered.

He opened up his palm before Yale, who placed a folder in his hand. He waved the folder in front of Yvette.

“Do you know what’s in here? Don’t worry, I can tell you all about it. You falsified the accounts in Lloyd Enterprise and received many bribes from competitors. Once I submit the evidence, you’ll have to be detained once more. This time, you won’t be released just because your sister decides not to press charges.”

Yvette was familiar with the law and knew exactly what Tyler meant. She stumbled back in fear.

“Y–You fabricated the evidence, I’m sure! I’m going to sue you for that…”
