Chapter 806
โYes, Rachel. You donโt look very well. Why donโt you get some rest first?โ Cecilia held Rachel as they walked in.
Gerald sat on the chair, looking as though he had lost even more weight. His eyes looked sunken in. He had to see his son pass away before he did, so he naturally felt terrible about it.
Yvette saw Tyler and immediately greeted him, as though no estrangement lay between them.
โHello, Mr. Hunt.โ
When Tyler turned around and saw that it was her, his eyes dimmed. โWhat are you doing here?โ
โWhy canโt I be here? Donโt you know? My sister released me. Iโm determined to turn over a new leaf, and weโll treat each other well as family from now on,โ Yvette said with a bright smile on her face.
But Tylerโs face remained cold as he looked at Yvette.
โI donโt care who let you out. I just want to ask you, Ms. Lloyd. Your father just passed away, and you donโt look sad at all. In fact, youโre still in the mood to act chummy with me.โ
Tyler didnโt speak loudly, but relatives milling around them heard him.
Yvette had the cheek to look awkward upon realizing that her words and tone were indeed inappropriate.
Her relatives started mumbling under their breaths.
โYou donโt say! Rachel might be the illegitimate daughter, but look. She organized this whole thing, and it was her assistant who called to inform us about this.โ
โExactly! We fully understand that she may not have the time or capacity to call us in person.โ
โWhatโs with Yvette? Jim made Gerald almost drive Rachel out of the house in order to bring Yvette back home, for fear that she might be upset.โ
โWhy does she look completely unaffected by her fatherโs death? She looks like someone elseโs father died instead of hers.โ
Yvetteโs face darkened, and she bit her lip hard; she secretly cursed Rachel in her heart.
This was why she hated being in the Lloyd household with Rachel. No matter where she went, people loved comparing her with Rachel.
Rachel was always praised more.
Yvette had grown up in the countryside and was inferior to Rachel in many aspects. Hearing other people comparing them only added insult to injury.
Tyler glanced coldly at Yvette. โHear that, Ms. Lloyd? You should at least have some conscience. Even if you didnโt live with your father when you were young, you are still family. I advise you to think hard about it.โ
Yvette couldnโt stand being lectured by Tyler, especially after all the cutting remarks from her relatives. What right did Rachel have to be the apple of everyoneโs eyes?
She didnโt think she was inferior to Rachel in any way.
Jealousy crawled up her chest like poison ivy.
โMr. Hunt, do you really think Rachel is truly grieving for my dad? You probably donโt know this, but she certainly had a hand in my fatherโs death.โ
Everyone around her heard her bold claim.
โWhat?! Is Yvette crazy? What does she mean by that? Is there something we donโt know?โ
โDid Rachel cause Jimโs death?โ
Twint looked at his watch, the warm light shining down on his side profile. His jawline, as sharp as a knifeโs edge, his eyes dark and unfathomable.
โYvette Lloyd, you can doubt evidence that comes from other people, but this evidence comes from my source. Even if you hire the best lawyer in Yorelia City, let me tell you, this is useless.โ
Yvette almost collapsed out of fright. She clearly knew what Tyler was capable of. If it were anyone else, she might still stand a chance to escape.
But this was Tyler.
That meant she stood no chance of escape.
Just then, Rachel and Cecilia heard the commotion and walked out of the lounge. They looked at Yvette and Tyler, confusion in their eyes.
The moment Yvette saw Rachel, she rushed toward Rachel as though she had seen her savior. She grabbed Rachelโs arm, pretending they were the best of sisters.
โRachel, look at Mr. Hunt! Heโs still so hostile to me and even wants to send me back to the police!โ
Seeing that, Jerry wanted to slap the pretentious look off Yvetteโs face.
โYvette Lloyd, I canโt believe how disgusting you are! Think about itโwould you have been released if not for Rachel? Yet you dared to slander her before so many people! Everyone knows about Mr. Lloydโs condition. If it werenโt for Rachel, who went to great lengths to find him the best doctor, he might not have survived for so long. Iโd like to ask youโwhat were you doing when Mr. Lloyd was sick? Have you ever done anything for him?โ
Jerryโs words hit the nail on the head, stunning Yvette into silence.
Cecilia couldnโt hold back her anger; she pointed a finger at Yvette and snarled, โYvette, how could you be like this?! If Rachel hadnโt talked to your father about it, would you have been able to come out? She didnโt provoke your father at all!
โEveryone knows how biased the Lloyd family is. If they werenโt biased toward you, they wouldโve sent you to the police a long time ago! Would you even stand a chance to be here? Rachel has been merciful and kind enough to you, but youโre so ungrateful and repaid her kindness with evil by slandering her.โ
Yvette shook her head profusely. โI didnโt slander her! Rachel, youโve got to believe me. I really didnโt say anything.โ
Rachel was no fool and could see through Yvette in an instant. Her face turned cold and expressionless.
โYvette Lloyd, I allowed you to be released because I struck a deal with Dad. Iโve kept my promise to him and released you.โ
Yvette heaved a sigh of relief.
However, what Rachel said next sent her straight to hell.
โI warned you before you left the station, but you refused to heed my advice. As for what comes next, weโll do as Tyler said.โ
Tyler was very approving of Rachelโs words. He was worried that Rachel might show pity to Yvette at the very last minute.
โSince your fatherโs funeral is still ongoing, you should do your part as a daughter. We can wait till the funeral is over. If you continue shooting your mouth off about Rachel, I donโt mind raising additional charges against you,โ Tyler warned as he stood there, his aura imposing and intimidating.
