Chapter 822

Somehow, Rachel found all this hilarious.

Gerald didnโ€™t like her, and it had nothing to do with whether or not she was a biological child of the Lloyd family. It made sense to Rachel that he hadnโ€™t liked her before they realized her blood relations with the family. However, even after it was proven that she was a daughter of the Lloyd family, Gerald continued to dislike her.

From then on, Rachel had been utterly disappointed in him. Her heart was dead, like a quiet river in the night. Nothing Gerald said stirred up any emotion in her. She knew what he wanted to say even before he opened his mouth.

She gave a cold laugh. โ€œGrandpa, you canโ€™t blame me this time. Everyone saw it for themselvesโ€”it had nothing to do with me. Yvette slandered me in front of Tyler. She even claimed that I had feelings for William, which is completely untrue. As for all the bad debts she chalked up for the company, itโ€™s not that you donโ€™t see them. Youโ€™re simply pretending not to. Dad has left us at a timely juncture. If heโ€™s still alive, heโ€™d have to see for himself how Yvette destroyed his company.โ€

Gerald was speechless with anger. โ€œYouโ€ฆ!โ€

โ€œWhat, am I wrong to say that? Look at yourself. You should know the filthy things Yvette has been doing during her time at the company. She treated it like childโ€™s play. You really dote on your granddaughter, donโ€™t you? Sheโ€™s about to go to jail again. What, are you going to go bankrupt trying to bail her out once more?โ€

Gerald pointed a shaky finger at Rachel, his face dark with anger. His lips were trembling, but he couldnโ€™t utter a word.

Rachel didnโ€™t care whether he could take it or not. She was no saint. Why should she be polite when the other party didnโ€™t even regard her as a human being?

โ€œYvette was released because of an agreement I made with Dad. If you want to release her this time, youโ€™ll have to go to Tyler.โ€

Gerald held on to his final hope. โ€œTylerโ€™s your boyfriend. Heโ€™ll agree to it as long as you request it of him. I can tellโ€ฆโ€

โ€œPlease donโ€™t say that. I donโ€™t have what it takes to make Tyler do my bidding,โ€ Rachel cut him off, worried that Gerald might lay the responsibility on her shoulders.

Geraldโ€™s face turned red with anger. โ€œIn other words, you refuse to help.โ€

โ€œDo you think I should step in to help? Yvette has tried to cause harm to me time and time again. Tell me, why should I help her? Do you think I have a screw loose up there, or that Iโ€™m tired of living?โ€ Rachel shot back.

Gerald was once again rendered speechless by Rachelโ€™s words.

Rachel stood up, not wanting to say any more. โ€œYou know some things very clearly. Yvette is the one at fault here. Iโ€™ve never caused harm to her, but you keep asking me to forgive the person who once tried to do me in. Do you really think thatโ€™s appropriate?โ€

Rachel walked to the door, but hesitated for a few seconds. โ€œIf you really want to save Yvette from her fate, you can go beg Tyler and see if heโ€™s willing to spare her.โ€

With that, she opened the door and left.

Gerald had never actually considered the option of asking Tyler for help. He knew Tyler was even harder to deal with than Rachel. If the chances of Rachel agreeing to help were 50%, then the chances of Tyler agreeing to help were zero. He could tell that Tyler doted on Rachel with his life. Tyler would never agree to doing something that would put her life at risk again.

Gerald lowered his head in sorrow.

It seemed to him that now, no one could save Yvette.
