Tyler rubbed the bridge of his nose and suddenly spoke, his voice calm yet authoritative. “Did you miss something somewhere?”

Samantha’s brows furrowed, and she turned around stiffly. “What do you mean by that, Tyler?”

“Do you think Rachel wants to be with William, even if he still has feelings for her? How are you so confident about that?”

Tyler’s face was dark. He smirked sardonically. “Don’t forget, Rachel is my girlfriend right now. She’ll never be William’s woman. There’s no need for you two to discuss this possibility.”

Samantha shrank back upon seeing Tyler’s piercing gaze. His aura was too intimidating, and she felt a chill down her spine simply looking into his eyes.

She smiled stiffly and said, “Okay, I understand.”

“Since you two are getting a divorce, please call me Mr. Hunt instead. It’s rather embarrassing to have infidelity in the Lewis household.”

Samantha blushed with anger at Tyler’s words, but she pointed at William and spat accusingly, “He was unfaithful, too!”

Tyler burst out laughing and sneered sarcastically, “That’s why you two ended up together. You two deserve each other.” He took the chance to land a jab at William, hinting that Samantha’s betrayal was retribution for William. Birds of a feather flocked together, indeed.

William didn’t dare to retort and simply hung his head low, looking despondent.

Just then, the doors to the operating theatre opened. William and Tyler rushed forward.

“Doctor, how’s the patient?”

“Mr. Lewis’ life is no longer in danger, but his liver isn’t in good condition. We need to do further checks and see if it’s cancer. We’ll inform you once the results are out.”

“What? Lung cancer? How could that be? Grandpa has always been in good health. How could he have lung cancer?” William asked in disbelief.

“Don’t panic. It’s quite normal, really. He’s advanced in years, and such illnesses are common in patients of his age. Our bodies are like machines, after all,” the doctor said reassuringly.

Tyler was calmer in comparison, having seen his fair share of troubles. What’s more, falling ill was normal for someone at Thomas’ age. As long as he could be treated, things wouldn’t end up too bad.

“Doctor, when will his results be out?” Tyler asked.

“In about an hour. I can try to make it quick. Mr. Lewis also needs to be hospitalized and kept under observation for at least three days, given his advanced age.”

“Alright. Thank you, doctor.”

After the doctor returned to the operating theatre, Tyler turned to instruct William, “I’ll stay here tonight. You two go back and rest. Rachel’s father will be buried tomorrow. You can come back again tomorrow.”

William was stunned by Tyler’s proposed arrangements. “T-Tyler, did you say that you want to stay here tonight?”

Tyler looked at his phone as he texted Rachel. He glanced coldly at William and snapped, “Or do you want to stay here instead?”

William quickly waved his hands. “I’ll do as you say.” It wasn’t a good idea for him to stay all day at the hospital. He wasn’t even sure about his grandfather’s condition right now, and he had to head back to make the necessary preparations.
