Chapter 850
Oh my goodness!
Rowan was baffled.
What on earth did he just hear? Tyler Hunt, Yurelia Cityโs golden boy, once the cityโs power broker, the man everyone courtedโฆwas now completely won over by a woman.
The look on his face a moment ago wasnโt anger at all. It was indulgent and utterly doting.
Whoever this woman was, she had worked some kind of spell on him.
Tyler heard the noise and glanced down at Rachel on the screen.
โHold on a second.โ
He didnโt end the call. Instead, he told Rowan, โGive me that file.โ
Rowan took a moment to register what Tyler wanted, then handed the papers. While Tyler scanned the documents, Rowan tried to sneak a peek at the woman on Tylerโs phone.
Before he could, Tyler either sensed it or reacted on instinct and slammed the phone face-down on the desk. Rowan quickly looked away in embarrassment.
That was how precious Tyler treated her. Rowan couldnโt even glance at her.
Tyler tapped his pen against the page. The sound made Rowan break out in a cold sweat.
โPage 17,โ Tyler said at last.
His voice had gone cold.
โEastvale Territoryโs market-share projections are calculated using consumer data from three years ago.โ He jabbed the pen down on the line of numbers. โDo they think Northshireโs growth is dead, or are they underestimating me?โ
Rowanโs reply was soft. โThey said it was checked.โ
โThe quarterly report released last week shows upscale device penetration in Eastvale Territory rose by 12 percent year on year, and yet this proposal sets the growth at five percent.โ
Tyler shoved the paper forward. The edge scraped loudly across the desk.
โAre they trying to leave a lifeline for our competitors, or do they think LS Enterprise isnโt a threat anymore?โ
This file wasnโt Rowanโs work, but Tylerโs words landed like a hammer. Rowanโs fingers trembled as he rechecked the partners listed in the proposal. Two of them had been registered only six months ago. To Tyler, thatโs like putting up blank paper as collateral.
After a long while, Rowan managed to stammer, โIโll have them redo it right away.โ
He snatched the papers and fled.
It was the first time Rachel had heard Tyler talk about work like this. She hadnโt expected him to be such a stern boss. Every word carried pressure.
After Rowan left, Tyler picked up his phone. โItโs getting late. I wonโt keep you. Donโt stress too much about Elias.โ
โIโll find a way to get through to him. By the way, keep an eye on Cecilia for me. Iโm worried.โ
โDonโt worry. I already sent someone to check on her, but itโs worse than you thought. The people I sent say sheโs been vomiting up everything she eats. It looks like itโs getting worse.โ
Tyler hadnโt wanted to pile on pressure, but he knew Rachel too well. If he hadnโt told her and something irreversible happened to Cecilia, Rachel would blame herself forever.
