Chapter 852
Mark's tips were no small amounts, either.
He smiled and began teasing Rachel. "Cut the crap. Let me just ask you, how often do you eat the food those girls buy for you?"
Rachel's gaze flickered for a moment. She waved her hand impatiently.
"Forget it, I don't want to talk about this. Just make sure you know what you're doing. Anyway, Iโll eat this."
She opened the car door and got in. Mark chuckled.
โLook at you, acting all dignified.โ
The car headed toward the main company. On the way, Mark glanced at Rachel, who was still eating her donut.
"Tell me, have you figured out how you're going to explain things to Hannah when we get there?"
Rachel took a bite of the donut, sipped the milk he gave her, and said through a mouthful, โI donโt know. Iโll just lay everything out as it is. If she can accept it, weโll negotiate. If she wants to sue me or make a sceneโฆ Iโll use that ultimate secret weapon you gave me to deal with her.โ
Mark thought her plan wasnโt bad. His bottom line was simple โ he just didnโt want Rachel to suffer.
โFine. Good luck. If she really insists on suing, Iโll get you a good lawyer. But honestly, you shouldโve talked to me before you decided to use this method.โ
โIf I told you, Iโd be dragging you down with me. At least this way Iโm the only one going to take the heat.โ
Rachel was glad now that she hadnโt told him back then. Mark might look lazy and sharp-tongued most of the time, never sparing her from a jab, but when things got critical, he always stood on her side without hesitation.
Since he treated her so well, Rachel wasnโt willing to drag him into the mess.
Mark frowned. "You know Hannah hates your guts. Sheโs always tripping you up. Why would you do this? Never mind, this is pointless."
He pulled up in front of the company.
"You go up first. I'll come up later, so no one thinks we're plotting something together."
"Fine."
Rachel went upstairs and pushed open Hannahโs office door.
Hannah sat behind her desk in a white suit. Her face was expressionless, but her fingers tapped a steady rhythm on the tabletop, like she was presiding over a trial. Two lawyers in suits sat at her side, thick files spread open before them.
โRachel, you finally showed up.โ Hannah looked up sternly. โYou secretly transferred company projects away. Thereโs now a 200 million hole. How do you plan to fill it?โ
Rachel frowned. โIt was only 100 million. When did it become 200 million?โ
Even loan sharks didnโt inflate numbers like this. How could it double in just a few months?
Hannah sneered. A lawyer immediately slid a document over to Rachel.
โHasnโt the company lost money? And news of this has already spread through the industry. Do you realize how much damage this has caused us? Donโt you think you should pay for that?โ
โAll I did was transfer some projects, but I was the one who secured those projects in the first place. The company didnโt lose out. If you put it that way, itโs meaningless.โ
In truth, Hannah just wanted to use this as an excuse to extort money from Rachel.
