Chapter 865
All the Zieglers were dumbfounded. None of them dared to say a word.
Rachel thought they had done all they could, and there was no point arguing further with them. She believed justice would prevail, and people had eyes to see for themselves.
The Zieglers couldnโt have been ignorant of the things Howard had done over the years. They were simply trying to make excuses for him by speaking up and defending him.
Rachel held Tylerโs arm. โWeโve said all we wanted to say. Think whatever you want.โ
With that, they made a move to leave.
Suddenly, Miguel called out to Tyler.
โMr. Hunt, please wait.โ
Tyler stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Miguel.
โIs there anything else?โ
Miguel didnโt look as haughty or arrogant as he had at the beginning. In fact, he looked strung out and listless.
โWould you please consider showing Howard mercy, on account of his father? Heโs the only son of the family. If he got jailed, the Ziegler family would be done for!โ
Tyler scoffed.
โYou Zieglers really place too much importance on Howard being the only descendant of the family. Heโs clearly a useless good-for-nothing. Why must your family insist on handing the family business to someone whoโd only squander the family wealth? Donโt you know thatโs exactly what heโll do when you give him all of the familyโs assets?โ
โBut Mr. Zieglerโs final instruction was to hand the family business to Howard. We canโt go against his final wish,โ Miguel said with a pained look.
Tyler broke his usual rule of never butting into other peopleโs business.
โIโm usually not a busybody, but regarding this, I really think you should think twice about it. Ask yourselves, is there no one else suitable to inherit the family business? Iโm sure thatโs not necessarily true.โ
Miguel rubbed his chin and pondered Tylerโs question. What Tyler said did make sense.
Everyone knew clearly that if Howard took over the family business, he would squander it all in no time.
Miguel looked at Tyler with gratitude in his eyes. โThank you for the suggestion, Mr. Hunt. We were too agitated just now and might have hurt you two. I apologize on behalf of everyone here.โ
โItโs good that we made things clear. It doesnโt matter whether you apologize or not. Howard is your family, and Iโm sure you know better what heโs capable of. Whatโs more, Mr. Ziegler is no longer around. Howard will soon be convicted of his crimes. The rest of you can discuss your affairs among yourselves. Thereโs no need to be so inflexible and insist on following Mr. Zieglerโs final instruction without further thought. Come to think of it, he wasnโt the only one who contributed to the growth of the Ziegler family business. Generations of your ancestors poured their blood and sweat into it, too.โ
Tylerโs words made something click in Miguelโs mind. It felt as though a veil was lifted from his eyes. A smile stretched across his face once more.
โThank you for your advice, Mr. Hunt. I think we have a decision in mind.โ
Tyler nodded. โWe shanโt bother you any longer, then.โ
Rachel and Tyler thanked them before leaving. When they finally settled down in the car, Rachel heaved a sigh of relief.
โI almost thought the Zieglers would beat us up. I didnโt expect things to go that smoothly.โ
Tyler looked as cool as a cucumber as he leaned over and buckled Rachelโs seat belt for her.
