Chapter 866

โ€œYou underestimate the complexities of such wealthy and large families. Do you really think they were trying to stand up for Howard? They have their own plans. None of them were willing to step forward and be the bad guy.โ€

Rachel turned to look at him. โ€œSo you decided to be the bad guy instead.โ€

โ€œIt doesnโ€™t matter who the bad guy is. The most important thing is that itโ€™s all over now. The Zieglers probably wouldnโ€™t try to help Howard escape punishment by the law. In other words, weโ€™re not the ones who wish that Howard wouldnโ€™t be released. His relatives probably want that more than we do.โ€

Tyler knew better than anyone else how deep grudges run within a family like the Zieglers. The moment he stepped into the funeral hall and saw the ambition in their eyes, he knew that everything would be fine for them.

The worst people to deal with were those who had no weaknesses at all. People with weaknesses were easy to manipulate.

Rachel finally understood why Tyler managed to stay so calm and unperturbed throughout.

โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you tell me these things earlier?โ€

โ€œHow could I? Should I have whispered them to you in front of them all? I didnโ€™t want to weaken the aura you were trying to exude.โ€

Rachel shrugged.

โ€œItโ€™s time for us to deal with Ceciliaโ€™s problem now. Thereโ€™s nothing more for us to consider regarding Howard. He wonโ€™t be able to elude justice. No one can save him this time.โ€

She immediately called Jerry to ask where they were right now.

Jerry told her, โ€œAt the hospital.โ€

Rachel frowned. โ€œWerenโ€™t you at her house? How did she end up in the hospital?โ€

โ€œElias came to check on Cecilia. He said that she wasnโ€™t doing well and requested that she be hospitalized immediately. He wanted to discuss the case with the doctors here and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.โ€

The light in Rachelโ€™s eyes dimmed.

โ€œGot it.โ€

Her face fell as she hung up.

โ€œLetโ€™s head to the hospital first.โ€

The moment she said so, Tylerโ€™s phone rang.

When he saw that it was the hospital calling, his brows furrowed. Rachel saw it too and urged him, โ€œHurry up and answer it. What if something happened to your father?โ€

Tyler swiped right to answer the call. โ€œHello?โ€

โ€œTyler, come to the hospital right now. Grandpa wants to talk to you.โ€

Tylerโ€™s eyes turned dark. โ€œI have something else to attend to right now. Can I go later?โ€

โ€œI think youโ€™d better come now. Heโ€™s been asking to see you over the past few days, and his health isnโ€™t in great condition. Heโ€™s very worried about you.โ€

This was the first time Tyler heard someone claim that Thomas was worried about him and had been asking for him. Hadnโ€™t Thomas been treating him like he was dead over the years?

Whatever happened to Tyler had nothing to do with the Lewis family.

At times, Tyler even felt thankful that he didnโ€™t take the Lewis family name, or he would have been burdened by responsibilities he didnโ€™t want and become a target of the rumor mill.

He rubbed his nose bridge. โ€œGot it. Iโ€™ll head over soon.โ€

He put his phone aside, about to explain things to Rachel, when she shook her head.

โ€œYou donโ€™t need to explain. Your dad is equally important. You should go to him. I can go to the hospital by myself. If thereโ€™s nothing much on Ceciliaโ€™s end, Iโ€™ll head over to visit him later.โ€
