Rachel forced a smile on her face.
โIโm not keeping any secrets from you. I just think that with so many things going on right now, our moods will be easily affected. Marriage is a joyful affair, so all the more we should settle everything before we get married. Isnโt that better?โ
Tyler nodded. โThat makes sense.โ
He released her and ran his fingers through her wind-tousled hair to try to straighten it out.
โLetโs head back. Ray and Sunny probably miss you lots.โ
Joy filled Rachelโs heart at the mention of both dogs.
โThe two are probably eagerly waiting for us to get home.โ
Back at their apartment, Ray and Sunny pounced on them eagerly the moment Tyler opened the door.
Rachel almost collapsed on the floor from their weight.
โCalm down, wonโt you?โ
Sunny pounced on Rachel and licked her face. Rachel couldnโt stand the itch and reached out to pull Sunny into her arms.
โSunny, calm down! My face is all covered with your saliva!โ
Ray bounded over to Tyler, biting his pant leg and yanking him toward the couch.
Tyler didnโt know whether to laugh or cry at Rayโs enthusiasm.
โAlright, Iโll sit. Donโt be so excited.โ
Sunny saw what Ray did and followed suit, biting the hem of Rachelโs skirt and yanking her toward the couch.
Rachel and Tyler ended up forced to sit on the couch. The funny thing was, after Rachel and Tyler both settled down on the couch, both Ray and Sunny jumped onto the couch as well.
Ray sprawled on Tylerโs lap while Sunny lay on Rachelโs legs.
Tyler and Rachel exchanged glances, looking helplessly at their dogs.
The next day, Tyler woke up early in the morning to go to his office for a meeting. When Rachel woke up, she received a call from Mark.
โAlthough youโre back home, I have to remind you of this. Itโs been two days. Howโs your fundraising going?โ
Rachel could feel her head pound. โCan I tell you that I havenโt even raised a tenth of the amount?โ
โHuh? What have you been doing since you returned? Rachel, Iโm not joking. Hannah always had something against you. Now that she finally has leverage over you, youโll be in trouble if you donโt get the money. If she sues you, you might find yourself in a very troublesome lawsuit.โ
โI know. Iโll start raising the money today.โ
โBy the way, I transferred 50 million dollars to your account. Consider it some help from me to you. Donโt be in a rush to return the money to me. You can pay me back slowly next time when you have the means.โ
Rachel wouldnโt have accepted the money, but she was desperate and decided to put aside her pride.
โThank you so much, but itโs really brave of you to lend me so much money. Aren't you worried that I canโt return it to you?โ
โNo. I know you used to close deals worth one to two hundred million dollars. Given how capable you are, Iโm not worried.โ
Mark was no philanthropist. He wasnโt bored enough to pretend to be a good person and lend Rachel so much money.
He had someone check Rachelโs background before he dared to fork out so much.
He knew Rachelโs character. She wasnโt someone without a conscience. He knew she would strive to repay the kindness she was shown once she had a chance to.
