Chapter 884

It was pointless.

Tyler gently patted her on the back. โ€œFrom now on, you donโ€™t have to worry about the company or the remaining debt. Iโ€™ll take care of it. Weโ€™ve signed several new projects lately. Itโ€™s more than enough to cover what youโ€™re dealing with.โ€

Rachel frowned. โ€œYou want to use your companyโ€™s money to cover my debts? I advise you against it. I donโ€™t want your help.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re pregnant now. All of your energy needs to go to yourself and the baby.โ€

Tyler rarely spoke in such a pleading tone. He only did this to Rachel.

Standing nearby, Xavier felt he couldnโ€™t just watch the two of them go back and forth like this. He stepped forward and took on the role of a neutral mediator.

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you both calm down first? Go home, think it over, and talk it out slowly.โ€ He then turned to Rachel. โ€œBut I do need to remind you, Ms. Lloyd. Due to your unique condition, this pregnancy wasnโ€™t easy to come by. You need to do everything in your power to keep this baby.โ€

Rachel froze and stood stiffly where she was. It felt like sheโ€™d just gone from heaven to hell in an instant. She was pregnant, but the pregnancy was unstable. If she lost this child, having another in the future might get very difficult.

Still, she didnโ€™t understand. โ€œDr. Jenkins, I donโ€™t get it. Iโ€™ve always been a little weak, but I never thought getting pregnant would be a problem.โ€

Back when she was with William, children had never been on the table, but she had never believed the problem lay with her. Later, when she learned William couldnโ€™t have kids, that only reinforced her certainty that nothing was wrong with her.

โ€œDuring the exam, we discovered one of your fallopian tubes is blocked. Honestly, the fact that you conceived this time is already a miracle.โ€

Rachel felt mixed emotions at his words. Still, there was something to be grateful for. She did get pregnant after all. She forced herself to think on the bright side.

Rachel smiled weakly. โ€œI understand. Thank you, Dr. Jenkins. Iโ€™ll be careful.โ€

โ€œGood. Then take this prescription and get the supplements, folic acid and the like. Theyโ€™re good for the baby.โ€

Tyler reached out immediately. โ€œIโ€™ll get them.โ€

โ€œNo, let her go herself. Walking is good for her. Later on, when the pregnancyโ€™s further along, itโ€™ll make delivery easier.โ€

Xavier pulled back the paper just as Tyler was about to take it.

Rachel didnโ€™t think much of it. She took the prescription from Xavierโ€™s hand. โ€œIโ€™ll go. You stay here and talk with Dr. Jenkins for a bit longer.โ€

โ€œAlright. Take your time.โ€ Tyler watched her leave.

Only after Rachel was gone did he turn to Xavier.

โ€œAlright, what is it you didnโ€™t want her hearing?โ€

โ€œYou really donโ€™t get it, do you? She doesnโ€™t seem all that set on keeping this baby. If I hadnโ€™t said what I did just now, she might have come back in a few days to secretly get an abortion.โ€

Tylerโ€™s eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at Xavier.

โ€œMan, youโ€™re crafty as hell.โ€

Xavier smirked and patted Tyler on the chest. โ€œWell, I just did you a huge favor. Donโ€™t you think you owe me thanks?โ€
