Chapter 885

โ€œHow about when the babyโ€™s born, I let you be his godfather?โ€ Tyler suggested.

Xavier rolled his eyes. โ€œEven if I hadnโ€™t done you that favor, Iโ€™d still be your kidโ€™s godfather.โ€

โ€œFine. Then dinnerโ€™s on me sometime. Or you tell me what you want. Just send me a message later.โ€

Even then, Tyler still couldnโ€™t stop worrying about Rachel. His gaze kept drifting toward the hallway.

Xavier shook his head helplessly. โ€œYouโ€™re hopeless. Youโ€™ve never even dated anyone before, and now sheโ€™s gone and stolen your soul.โ€

Tyler didnโ€™t argue. He only patted Xavier on the shoulder. โ€œYou get back to work. Iโ€™m leaving.โ€

Xavier watched Tyler leave and smiled, shaking his head. He then returned to his office.

While walking toward Rachel, Tyler dialed Yale.

โ€œYale, send me a list of every project our company can possibly negotiate. Call a staff meeting this afternoon, and tell everyone weโ€™ll be working overtime for the next week.โ€

Yale was stunned. โ€œMr. Hunt, why? Did something happen?โ€

He couldnโ€™t figure it out. Tyler had gone to the hospital with Rachel for a check-up. How did this suddenly turn into work?

โ€œNothingโ€™s wrong. Rachelโ€™s pregnant. Tell Wanda to pay closer attention to her meals from now on.โ€

Yale froze.

โ€œMr. Hunt, you said Ms. Lloyd is pregnant? Really? Thatโ€™s amazing! Congratulations! Soon, youโ€™ll be a father! Should we tell your father? Heโ€™s still in the hospital. If he hears about her pregnancy, itโ€™ll definitely lift his spirits.โ€

โ€œYeah. Iโ€™ll make time tonight to go see him.โ€

Tylerโ€™s relationship with Thomas had been slowly improving recently.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll get on with your work arrangements right away. But Mr. Hunt, I think you should pace yourself. If you push too hard, itโ€™ll take a toll on your health.โ€

Yale was worried; Tyler had finally started sleeping better lately thanks to Rachel, but now with this sudden increase in workload, his sleep schedule might get ruined again.

Tyler had already spotted Rachel up ahead. He cut Yale off quickly.

โ€œI know what Iโ€™m doing.โ€

He hung up.

Yale could only hurry to carry out his orders.

Meanwhile, Rachel had just finished picking up her medication. When she turned around, she saw Tyler.

โ€œWerenโ€™t you supposed to still be with Dr. Jenkins? That was fast.โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t feel like listening to him ramble. The older he gets, the more long-winded he is. Heโ€™s always going on about pointless things.โ€

โ€œConsider yourself lucky. Having someone to nag you is a blessing. Look at me. I donโ€™t even have anyone left to nag me anymore.โ€

For the first time, the realization struck Rachel that she didnโ€™t have a single family member left.

Her mother was gone. Jim was gone. Even Gerald, who she had never gotten along with, was gone.

Tyler noticed her mood dip. Afraid that her pregnancy hormones were making her even more sensitive, he leaned closer and teased, โ€œWell, if you like being nagged, Iโ€™d be more than happy to volunteer.โ€

โ€œPlease. If youโ€™re the one nagging, Iโ€™d rather pass.โ€

Rachel had been heavy-hearted, but somehow, Tylerโ€™s theatrics lightened her mood.

Tyler held her hand tightly. โ€œDonโ€™t let what he said get to you.โ€

Rachel recalled Xavierโ€™s words, and conflicted feelings welled up inside once again. She lowered her head and opened her mouth, but no words came out.

Tyler looked at her. โ€œWhat is it you want to say?โ€

Rachel quickly changed the subject. โ€œNothing. I was just surprised that with my condition, I was even able to get pregnant at all.โ€
