Chapter 885
โHow about when the babyโs born, I let you be his godfather?โ Tyler suggested.
Xavier rolled his eyes. โEven if I hadnโt done you that favor, Iโd still be your kidโs godfather.โ
โFine. Then dinnerโs on me sometime. Or you tell me what you want. Just send me a message later.โ
Even then, Tyler still couldnโt stop worrying about Rachel. His gaze kept drifting toward the hallway.
Xavier shook his head helplessly. โYouโre hopeless. Youโve never even dated anyone before, and now sheโs gone and stolen your soul.โ
Tyler didnโt argue. He only patted Xavier on the shoulder. โYou get back to work. Iโm leaving.โ
Xavier watched Tyler leave and smiled, shaking his head. He then returned to his office.
While walking toward Rachel, Tyler dialed Yale.
โYale, send me a list of every project our company can possibly negotiate. Call a staff meeting this afternoon, and tell everyone weโll be working overtime for the next week.โ
Yale was stunned. โMr. Hunt, why? Did something happen?โ
He couldnโt figure it out. Tyler had gone to the hospital with Rachel for a check-up. How did this suddenly turn into work?
โNothingโs wrong. Rachelโs pregnant. Tell Wanda to pay closer attention to her meals from now on.โ
Yale froze.
โMr. Hunt, you said Ms. Lloyd is pregnant? Really? Thatโs amazing! Congratulations! Soon, youโll be a father! Should we tell your father? Heโs still in the hospital. If he hears about her pregnancy, itโll definitely lift his spirits.โ
โYeah. Iโll make time tonight to go see him.โ
Tylerโs relationship with Thomas had been slowly improving recently.
โAlright, Iโll get on with your work arrangements right away. But Mr. Hunt, I think you should pace yourself. If you push too hard, itโll take a toll on your health.โ
Yale was worried; Tyler had finally started sleeping better lately thanks to Rachel, but now with this sudden increase in workload, his sleep schedule might get ruined again.
Tyler had already spotted Rachel up ahead. He cut Yale off quickly.
โI know what Iโm doing.โ
He hung up.
Yale could only hurry to carry out his orders.
Meanwhile, Rachel had just finished picking up her medication. When she turned around, she saw Tyler.
โWerenโt you supposed to still be with Dr. Jenkins? That was fast.โ
โDidnโt feel like listening to him ramble. The older he gets, the more long-winded he is. Heโs always going on about pointless things.โ
โConsider yourself lucky. Having someone to nag you is a blessing. Look at me. I donโt even have anyone left to nag me anymore.โ
For the first time, the realization struck Rachel that she didnโt have a single family member left.
Her mother was gone. Jim was gone. Even Gerald, who she had never gotten along with, was gone.
Tyler noticed her mood dip. Afraid that her pregnancy hormones were making her even more sensitive, he leaned closer and teased, โWell, if you like being nagged, Iโd be more than happy to volunteer.โ
โPlease. If youโre the one nagging, Iโd rather pass.โ
Rachel had been heavy-hearted, but somehow, Tylerโs theatrics lightened her mood.
Tyler held her hand tightly. โDonโt let what he said get to you.โ
Rachel recalled Xavierโs words, and conflicted feelings welled up inside once again. She lowered her head and opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Tyler looked at her. โWhat is it you want to say?โ
Rachel quickly changed the subject. โNothing. I was just surprised that with my condition, I was even able to get pregnant at all.โ
