“It’s okay. Medicine is so advanced now. You can recover with the right care. Besides, you’re already pregnant. For now, don’t think about anything else. Let’s just focus on bringing this baby into the world safely.”

Tyler gently patted Rachel’s back and tried to calm her fragile emotions.

Rachel hesitated for a long while before finally saying slowly, “Tyler, what if I don’t want this baby? Would you agree to it?”

Tyler frowned at once. “Why wouldn’t you want it?”

He thought Xavier’s words earlier would’ve stopped her from entertaining that thought. Both Tyler and Xavier had seen it.

When Rachel first learned she was pregnant, there was no joy on her face, only weariness.

Even after Xavier warned her that she might not be able to conceive again, she still asked if she could end the pregnancy.

Tyler’s expression stiffened, and the light in his eyes dimmed.

After a long pause, he finally said with difficulty, “I’ll respect your decision.”

Rachel looked at him in surprise. She never expected Tyler would actually agree if she really wanted to end the pregnancy.

Her lips trembled as she asked, “You’re not even going to ask me why?”

“There’s no need. Whatever decision you make, I trust you have your reasons. I’ll respect that.”

With that, Tyler took the medication from her hand and turned to throw it in the trash, but Rachel stopped him.

“No. I’ve already decided that I’m keeping the baby.”

Tyler froze. He was caught off guard by how she kept changing her mind. Normally, he could read Rachel easily. But now, for once, he couldn’t figure out what was going through her head.

Then again, Xavier had said it himself that pregnant women were emotionally unstable and a hundred times more sensitive than usual.

Her mood swings proved it.

Tyler didn’t press further.

“Let’s just go home. You can think it through again later.”

He slipped the medication back into his pocket and left the hospital with Rachel.

When Wanda heard knocks on the door, she opened it and immediately saw Rachel in Tyler’s jacket. Rachel also seemed disheveled.

Wanda could clearly sense that something had happened to Rachel. “What happened? You don’t look well. Did something happen?”

Rachel didn’t know how to explain, but Tyler stepped in.

“Wanda, Rachel tripped on the way over. We took her to the hospital, and that’s when we found out that she’s pregnant. You’ll need to keep a closer eye on her nutrition from now on.”

Wanda’s eyes widened in shock. “She’s pregnant!”

Tyler nodded calmly.

Wanda instantly became excited. “That’s wonderful! We’re finally going to have a little one. Goodness gracious! You’re going to be a father! Your mother can finally rest easy in heaven.”

As soon as she looked at Tyler again, she noticed something was off.

“Sir, why don’t you look happy?”

This was incredible news. Shouldn’t Tyler be thrilled?

After all, he had always worried Rachel might not want to be with him. Now that she was carrying his child, shouldn’t that concern be gone?

“I’m happy. I’ve already celebrated enough. Wanda, go make Rachel something to eat. I’ll be upstairs.”

Tyler said the words, but his expression remained neutral.
