Chapter 904

โ€œOh, alright,โ€ Rachel said, immediately catching Eliasโ€™ hint.

She turned to Cecilia, โ€œGet some rest. Iโ€™ll have the nanny bring your children here in the afternoon to visit you, and Iโ€™ll take the chance to pass them some food they can bring home.โ€

Cecilia looked listless as she nodded weakly. โ€œAlright. Thank you, Rachel.โ€

Rachel patted her gently on the back. โ€œNo need for that between us.โ€

Rachel and Tyler left the ward.

Outside, she asked bluntly, โ€œWhatโ€™s Ceciliaโ€™s state right now?โ€

Elias stopped in front of a window along the corridor, pushing his glasses up his nose bridge. His gaze landed on a slightly worriedโ€“looking Rachel before speaking.

โ€œFrom her latest reports, her condition has improved. The tumor marker value has dropped by close to 30%, and the lesion has been more or less brought under control. Thatโ€™s the good news.โ€

Rachelโ€™s tense shoulders relaxed. Even her fingers were gripping tightly on the hem of her shirt.

โ€œDoes that meanโ€ฆthe treatment outcome is better than expected?โ€

โ€œYes, but we canโ€™t lower our guard,โ€ Elias said with caution. โ€œHer body constitution was weak to begin with, and the intensive chemotherapy sessions have lowered her white blood cell and blood platelet counts. Weโ€™ll have to spread out the treatments and lengthen the chemotherapy intervals from three to five weeks. Iโ€™ll also reduce the dosage slightly to prevent her body from collapsing.โ€

He paused for a moment before going on.

โ€œAfter adjusting the dosage, the treatment duration will be longer. She might get anxious from not seeing fast results. Coupled with fatigue and poor appetite due to the chemotherapy, she might become emotional very easily. Do talk to her more about her children or happy memories. Psychological support and counseling are most important. Donโ€™t let her get too emotionally tense.โ€

Rachel nodded, looking very solemn. โ€œI got it. Iโ€™ll spend time with her every day and try to keep her in high spirits.โ€

Tyler patted her back, then turned to look at Elias and said, โ€œI know a psychotherapist with a special focus on tumor patients. Her name is Dr. Scott, and she has a lot of experience helping patients deal with their emotions postโ€“surgery. She specializes in using cognitive behavioral therapy to deal with patientsโ€˜ anxiety during the treatment process.

โ€œIโ€™ll contact her tonight and ask her to come tomorrow for a first meeting with Cecilia. She can customize a counseling plan based on Ceciliaโ€™s condition.โ€

โ€œDr. Scott? I think Iโ€™ve read her thesis in an international psychology magazine. Sheโ€™s an impressive expert in her field! Ms. Ceciliaโ€™s mental state will surely stabilize with her help!โ€ Elias remarked rather excitedly.

Rachel felt much better with Tylerโ€™s suggestion. She turned to look at him with gratitude and held his hand.

Thank you, Tyler.โ€

Tyler whispered into her ear, โ€œIf you want to thank me, Mrs. Hunt, why donโ€™t you call me Hubby a few times tonight?โ€

Rachelโ€™s face flushed. He was somehow always able to make her heart race.

She pursed her lips, trying to hide her embarrassment, and tugged the hem of his shirt to hint to him not say such things in public. Honestly, she couldnโ€™t control her reaction to his teasing.

Elias cleared his throat. โ€œAlright, that settles it. Letโ€™s catch up after things are settled.โ€
