Chapter 904
โOh, alright,โ Rachel said, immediately catching Eliasโ hint.
She turned to Cecilia, โGet some rest. Iโll have the nanny bring your children here in the afternoon to visit you, and Iโll take the chance to pass them some food they can bring home.โ
Cecilia looked listless as she nodded weakly. โAlright. Thank you, Rachel.โ
Rachel patted her gently on the back. โNo need for that between us.โ
Rachel and Tyler left the ward.
Outside, she asked bluntly, โWhatโs Ceciliaโs state right now?โ
Elias stopped in front of a window along the corridor, pushing his glasses up his nose bridge. His gaze landed on a slightly worriedโlooking Rachel before speaking.
โFrom her latest reports, her condition has improved. The tumor marker value has dropped by close to 30%, and the lesion has been more or less brought under control. Thatโs the good news.โ
Rachelโs tense shoulders relaxed. Even her fingers were gripping tightly on the hem of her shirt.
โDoes that meanโฆthe treatment outcome is better than expected?โ
โYes, but we canโt lower our guard,โ Elias said with caution. โHer body constitution was weak to begin with, and the intensive chemotherapy sessions have lowered her white blood cell and blood platelet counts. Weโll have to spread out the treatments and lengthen the chemotherapy intervals from three to five weeks. Iโll also reduce the dosage slightly to prevent her body from collapsing.โ
He paused for a moment before going on.
โAfter adjusting the dosage, the treatment duration will be longer. She might get anxious from not seeing fast results. Coupled with fatigue and poor appetite due to the chemotherapy, she might become emotional very easily. Do talk to her more about her children or happy memories. Psychological support and counseling are most important. Donโt let her get too emotionally tense.โ
Rachel nodded, looking very solemn. โI got it. Iโll spend time with her every day and try to keep her in high spirits.โ
Tyler patted her back, then turned to look at Elias and said, โI know a psychotherapist with a special focus on tumor patients. Her name is Dr. Scott, and she has a lot of experience helping patients deal with their emotions postโsurgery. She specializes in using cognitive behavioral therapy to deal with patientsโ anxiety during the treatment process.
โIโll contact her tonight and ask her to come tomorrow for a first meeting with Cecilia. She can customize a counseling plan based on Ceciliaโs condition.โ
โDr. Scott? I think Iโve read her thesis in an international psychology magazine. Sheโs an impressive expert in her field! Ms. Ceciliaโs mental state will surely stabilize with her help!โ Elias remarked rather excitedly.
Rachel felt much better with Tylerโs suggestion. She turned to look at him with gratitude and held his hand.
Thank you, Tyler.โ
Tyler whispered into her ear, โIf you want to thank me, Mrs. Hunt, why donโt you call me Hubby a few times tonight?โ
Rachelโs face flushed. He was somehow always able to make her heart race.
She pursed her lips, trying to hide her embarrassment, and tugged the hem of his shirt to hint to him not say such things in public. Honestly, she couldnโt control her reaction to his teasing.
Elias cleared his throat. โAlright, that settles it. Letโs catch up after things are settled.โ
