“Hmm…” Rachel hummed flatly in response, her interest not piqued.

When they returned to their apartment, Tyler hung up Rachel’s coat for her and poured her a glass of warm water.

“Get some rest. I need to go back to my office to do some work. I’ll come back to have dinner with you later.”

Rachel took the glass of water and nodded without a word. Her listless look filled Tyler’s eyes with worry. When he turned to leave the house, he dialed Yale’s number and said in a hushed whisper, “Find out who called my wife half an hour ago.”

“Yes, sir.”

Five minutes later, Yale called Tyler back.

“Mr. Hunt, I found the answer. It was Hannah Abbot, the one who previously had a debt dispute with Ms. Lloyd’s family.”

Tyler’s hand tightened over his phone. He immediately instructed Yale to contact his company’s lawyer. “Ask the lawyer about the consequences of Rachel’s company suing her if she doesn’t pay back on time.”

Ten minutes later, the lawyer’s response made Tyler’s face fall.

According to the terms of the contract, if Rachel was unable to transfer the two hundred million dollars to the company within the time stipulated by Hannah, the company would reserve the right to sue her. If things got serious enough, she might even be jailed.

Tyler’s face turned dark. A moment later, he said, “Check on funds that can be utilized right away, including all our realizable assets.”

Very soon, Yale replied with a report.

“Mr. Hunt, we have eighty million dollars in the new energy project. We might only be able to pull out the funds next month. In terms of realizable assets, we have stocks and bonds worth about fifty million. Added to the liquid cash we have in our account, we can raise one hundred million.”

The company was still recovering and even tapped into a portion of their reserves to help Rachel pay for Cecilia’s medical fees first. They didn’t have much spare cash lying around.

Tyler tapped his finger on the steering wheel. He was silent for a long time.

“Sell our subsidiary company. Contact Mr. Jones. He’s been wanting to acquire it.”

“But Mr. Hunt, if you sell the subsidiary company, it’ll be even harder for the company to recover. The subsidiary company is very closely related to the parent company. Selling it would greatly impact the parent company.”

“I’ve made up my mind. Make the necessary preparations and sign the contract in two days!”

With that, Tyler hung up.

He looked at the photo of Rachel on his phone. It was rare to see her smiling so brightly. He took this photo secretly when he sent Sunny to her.

He was bent on saving Rachel, even if he had to sell LS Enterprise. He would be left with nothing if anything were to happen to her.

Meanwhile, Rachel had no idea that Tyler was on the verge of selling his company. Jerry knew that Rachel’s time was running out and met with her to discuss her options.

Wanda was stunned to see Jerry, who immediately introduced himself.

“Hello, I’m Rachel’s assistant,” he said.

“Oh, hello there. Please wait here while I head upstairs to call Mrs. Hunt downstairs.”

She hurried upstairs while Jerry waited at the door. He had wanted to wait inside, but the sight of two dogs guarding the door diligently and glaring at him made him very cautious.

Rachel soon came down the stairs, slightly surprised to see Jerry at her place.

“What are you doing here?”

Jerry thought it was inappropriate to discuss the matter in front of Wanda. “I’m here to discuss work with you.”

Rachel immediately understood what he meant. “Come on up.”

Jerry glanced at both dogs.

“But these two dogs…don’t seem very friendly.”
