Chapter 908

"Has Rachel raised the funds?" Hannah's voice was dripping with disdain.

"Ms. Abbot, Iโ€™d like to ask for your understanding," Jerry asked pleadingly. "Rachel is doing her best to raise the funds, but thereโ€™s simply not enough time. Could you please give her a few more months? If thatโ€™s not possible, Iโ€™m willing to go to jail on her behalf. The company can sue me instead. I was the one who instigated her to misappropriate company funds."

Hannah scoffed, "Iโ€™m impressed at the number of men fawning over her. Mark was willing to fork out his money just to help her, while youโ€™re ready to ruin your career prospects. A man like you would be doomed if you go to jail."

โ€œYou donโ€™t need to worry about me. All you need is an explanation for the company. As for who actually goes to jail, you probably donโ€™t care, do you?โ€ Jerry pressed.

Hannah fell silent for a few seconds before she burst out laughing.

โ€œGo to jail on her behalf? You must have a screw loose up there! Rachel owes the company two hundred million dollars, not something like twenty thousand dollars. Whoโ€™s going to return the money if you go to jail on her behalf?"

โ€œIโ€ฆI can slowly return the money. Iโ€™ll use my whole life to return the money on her behalf!โ€ Jerry declared anxiously.

โ€œQuit putting on an act before me," Hannah said coldly. "Did Rachel not consider that this would happen when she chose to pit herself against me back then? She thinks sheโ€™s all that, right? I heard she found herself a rich boyfriend. Why not make her rich boyfriend return the money for her?

"You want my understanding and an extension of the deadline? Dream on! If I donโ€™t see the money in two days, Iโ€™ll sue her immediately. No matter who comes pleading for her mercy, itโ€™ll be the same!"

Hannah hung up, refusing to give Jerry a chance to say more.

Jerryโ€™s arms hung weakly by his sides. He looked up, lamenting his fate. He had thought of every way possible and was now at a dead end.

Did he really have to stand idly by and watch as Rachel get sued and go to jail?

The next day, Rachel woke up and left the house early in the morning. Tyler never came home last night but texted her that he had a meeting ongoing. He would text her again if he was coming back.

He reminded Rachel again and again not to overexert herself and not bite off more than she can chew. Even if not for the child in her womb, she had to think for herself.

His text made Rachel even more certain that Tyler was indeed different from most men. Any other man would want his wife to first take care of the baby and not herself, no matter what.

But Tyler was different. Tyler wanted her to first take care of herself before the child.

That made her feel very happy.

She had the chance to speak to a customer in the field of medical devices. If the deal went through, she might be able to receive the first prepayment soon.

Although it wasnโ€™t enough to repay the company, it would at least help a little.

The moment the car stopped at the entrance of a cafe, Rachel saw a familiar-looking black car by the roadside. The windows wound down and Williamโ€™s face came to view.

Rachel ignored him and turned to walk in.

However, William hurried over to her and grabbed her wrist.

โ€œRunning the moment you see me? Am I some scary monster?โ€

Rachelโ€™s brows furrowed as she shook Williamโ€™s hand away.

โ€œYou know better than everyone else how things are between us. So Mr. Lewis, please show some respect.โ€
