Chapter 913

"Where can you find such a good man? I can't seem to find one!"

"He looks a little like Mr. Hunt of LS Enterprise."

"Ah! You mean that outstanding yet unattainable man who's never been involved in a scandal?"

"It's most probably him. I can't be mistaken."

"Damn it, can't I be blessed with a man like that? What must I do to bump into a perfect man like him?"

Rachel overheard the words of admiration from the women around them and snuck a peek at Tyler next to her. The corner of her lips lifted in a shy smile.

She felt rather proud of her boyfriend, if she had to admit it.

On the way to the hospital, Rachel remembered that things might get awkward between Tyler and Thomas. She decided to make things clear beforehand.

"Tyler, he did us a huge favor this time. The last time he spoke to you, he wanted to reconcile with you. I trust you can tell that."

Tyler stepped on the brake at the traffic lights, his long, svelte fingers tapping the steering wheel.

"And then?"

Rachel started gesturing. "Can you be gentler with your words when you see him? Don't look so intimidating. Be friendlier and more approachable."

The expectant look in Rachel's eyes melted the stubbornness in Tyler. He knew Rachel genuinely wanted them to reconcile, and that his father had sent help during their time of need.

He sighed and intertwined his fingers with hers. "I'll do as you say. I heard from others that men who love their wives tend to strike it rich."

Rachel gave him a thumbs-up.

"You said it right. I think so too, so you have to listen to your wife."

They headed to a pastry shop nearby, as Rachel remembered that Thomas enjoyed pastries. She picked an assortment of colourful pastries and some freshly baked bread.

When they drove past a pharmacy, Tyler stopped the car and walked in to buy some supplements suitable for an old man at Thomas' age.

Tyler didn't say much, but he had everything thoroughly considered.

When he drove into the carpark, Rachel straightened out her collar and even helped Tyler with his tie.

"Don't look so solemn later. Talk more to him, or just ask him how he's been doing."

"Why are you getting as naggy as a grandmother?" Tyler muttered. His voice was filled with disdain, but anyone could tell that he took Rachel's words very seriously.

When they arrived at the door of Thomas' ward, the nurses outside recognized them and greeted them with a wave.

"Mr. Lewis looks to be in much better spirits these days. He even went to the courtyard for some afternoon sun two days ago."

"Thank you for taking such good care of him," Rachel said gratefully.

The two of them pushed the ward door open and saw Thomas leaning against the headboard with a finance magazine in hand.

He looked up when he heard the noise and was stunned to see Tyler and Rachel there.

He asked in surprise, "What are you two doing here?"

Rachel was the first to approach him. She placed the box of pastries on the bedside table and sat down with a smile.

"We're here to visit you. Tyler knows how much you enjoy pastries and specifically made a trip to a traditional bakery to buy some. They're still warm, fresh out of the oven."

She opened the box, the buttery fragrance of the pastries spreading across the room.

"Try this. I remember you thought it was not too sweet and cloying, and went well with a cup of tea."

Thomas' gaze landed on the box of pastries and the bag of supplements in Tyler's hands. He shifted slightly on the bed, but didn't say a word.
