Chapter 912

Whatever it was, both Jerry and Rachel heaved a sigh of relief now that the crisis had been averted.

โ€œIโ€™m relieved to hear that, Rachel. This calls for a celebration!โ€

โ€œSure, Iโ€™ll treat you to a meal next time,โ€ Rachel said with a smile. โ€œBut Jerry, I really must thank you for pleading on my behalf under such stressful conditions.โ€

She understood Hannah too well. Hannah was strong-willed both at work and in life, often unforgiving with her words.

Jerry was very straightforward and had his pride. It wasnโ€™t a stretch to conclude that he probably suffered in Hannahโ€™s hands.

โ€œRachel, donโ€™t say that. I would have been in jail if it werenโ€™t for you. Itโ€™s only right for me to return the favor.โ€

โ€œAlright, letโ€™s not harp on the past anymore. Iโ€™ve got something else to go to, Iโ€™ll text you again.โ€

โ€œSure, go ahead.โ€

By the time Rachel hung up, Tyler had driven over to her.

Before Rachel could hop into the car, Tyler got out and made his way to the front passenger seat to open the door for her. He put his hand protectively above her head and waited for her to settle down before shutting the door.

Only then did he open the door to the driverโ€™s seat, settle down and start the engine.

โ€œThereโ€™s no need for you to do that. Iโ€™m pregnant, not carrying a treasure. Others might wonder why youโ€™re behaving so cautiously,โ€ Rachel said with a smile.

โ€œItโ€™s fine. Better be safe than sorry. Youโ€™re no different from a treasure right now, really.โ€

Rachel buckled her seat belt. โ€œLetโ€™s head to the hospital.โ€

The mention of the hospital made Tyler tense up.

โ€œDo you feel unwell?โ€

Seeing the concern on Tylerโ€™s face, Rachel patted his cheek gently.

โ€œTyler, can you quit being so antsy? Youโ€™re making me anxious, too. Iโ€™m only one month pregnant and youโ€™re behaving this way. We have so many more months to go. Are you really going to live like this?โ€

Tyler grabbed her hand, his tense shoulders relaxing.

โ€œOkay, I wonโ€™t be anxious. Answer me, do you feel unwell? Why do you want to go to the hospital?โ€

Rachel suppressed the urge to laugh. โ€œDid you forget whoโ€™s still in the hospital? Your father did us such a huge favor. Shouldnโ€™t we pay him a visit and thank him in person?โ€

Tyler scoffed. โ€œApologies. I forgot.โ€

Rachel launched the navigation app on her phone. โ€œI saw a shopping mall up ahead. Why donโ€™t we check it out and get something for him?โ€

โ€œYou decide,โ€

Tyler started the engine and drove in the direction Rachel led him in.

They walked around the shopping mall. Rachel picked out some gifts for Thomas, as well as some things for Cecilia to spruce up her empty ward.

Given what she knew of Cecilia, Rachel knew Cecilia would scrimp and save wherever she could.

Meanwhile, Tyler was in charge of carrying all of Rachelโ€™s shopping.

Rachel began feeling bad over all the bags he had to carry.

โ€œShall I take one bag?โ€

โ€œNo need. Shop as much as you want and buy whatever you want. If I canโ€™t carry them all, Iโ€™ll call Yale.โ€

Rachel was taken aback by Tylerโ€™s suggestion. โ€œThereโ€™s no need to call Yale here. He has his own matters to deal with. I donโ€™t have anything else to buy.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll come shopping with you again next time,โ€ Tyler offered, still refusing to let Rachel carry any of the shopping bags.

Many passers-by shot them looks of admiration and awe.

โ€œLook at how handsome that man is! He looks very rich too. Just look at the material of his shirt. How could he look so good? Heโ€™s handsome, rich, and more than that, heโ€™s so nice to his girlfriend!โ€
