Chapter 932

Winnie was still trying to hold herself back, not wanting sympathy from William or to be seen as a crybaby.

However, his words pierced her heart ruthlessly like daggers. She could no longer hold her tears back from falling down her cheeks.

She clenched her fists and yelled at William, โ€œIโ€™m not willing to be her replacement! You were the one who approached me right from the start. I do like you, but Iโ€™m not interested in being someone elseโ€™s replacement. All the more, you shouldnโ€™t be humiliating me just because you know that I like you!โ€

With that, Winnie covered her mouth and ran out the door.

โ€œWhatโ€™s happening? Did William do something to her?โ€

โ€œSeriously, itโ€™s so worrying. He messed up his relationship with Rachel before, too.โ€

Winnie didnโ€™t run far when she bumped into Tyler and Rachel, who were making their way back into the house.

โ€œIโ€™m sorryโ€ฆโ€ Winnie mumbled an apology before making a move to leave.

โ€œMs. Winnie,โ€ Rachel called out, โ€œplease stay.โ€

Winnie stopped in her tracks, her body tensing up. A trace of hostility flashed past her eyes as she looked at Rachel.

โ€œWhat? Are you going to mock me now, Ms. Lloyd? I know Iโ€™m not worthy of William.โ€

Rachel could tell what Winnie cared about but didnโ€™t get angry at Winnieโ€™s words. Instead, she turned to say to Tyler, โ€œGet me a glass of warm honey water. Iโ€™d like to have a word with Ms. Winnie.โ€

Tyler nodded and reminded her, โ€œBe careful. Call me if you need anything else.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

Rachel straightened out her scarf on her shoulders as she watched Tyler walk into the hall.

โ€œCome here and sit for a while.โ€

Winnie hesitated for a moment before following Rachel. She was angry at being made a replacement, but she was more indignant than furious.

Winnie admitted that Rachel was a beautiful woman, one who stood out in the crowd. She was neither adorable nor mature but had an unworldly, ethereal aura about her.

She could tell at one glance that Rachel was an independent woman with a mind of her own. She wasnโ€™t one to rely on a man, or she wouldnโ€™t have been able to make the leading businessman in Yurelia City do her bidding.

As they sat down, Winnie felt rather stiff and reserved. Yet, she couldnโ€™t hide her competitive streak and refused to take defeat lying down.

โ€œMs. Lloyd, please speak your mind.โ€

Rachel gave Winnie a small smile before pushing a cup of tea in her direction. โ€œDrink some water, calm down, and wipe your tears away. I know you want to talk to me, too.โ€

She could tell the moment she exchanged glances with Winnie that it was her first time realizing how much they looked alike.

A misunderstanding was bound to happen.

Winnie took the napkin from Rachelโ€™s hand and wiped the tears from her face. She took a sip of the tea, which successfully calmed her down.

Rachel went on, โ€œYou donโ€™t need to feel embarrassed. William should be. Taking a living, breathing person as anotherโ€™s shadowโ€ฆ Itโ€™s a huge disrespect for you, a letdown to that strange obsession he has. It is truly tasteless of him.โ€

Winnie was stunned.

She thought Rachel would stand on the Lewis familyโ€™s side or at least keep a distance. She didnโ€™t expect Rachel to rebuke William and speak up for her.

โ€œI know you must feel terrible.โ€

Rachel saw Winnieโ€™s eyes turning red.

โ€œBeing treated as a replacement makes you feel like your worth is denied. Anyone would feel slighted by that.โ€
