Listen to this chapter:

โ€œRachel.โ€ โ€œRachel.โ€ Tylerโ€™s voice was low, and there was a hint of coldness within it. โ€œWhat?โ€ she answered without thinking.

Tylerโ€™s warm fingers gently held her jaw. There was a sharp glint in his eyes as he stared right at her. "I didnโ€™t even tell anyone your secret. How did it slip out so fast? What did the Lewis family give you?โ€

Rachel knew she couldnโ€™t hide anything from Tyler. This man always saw through everything. Even if she tried to keep it secret, it wouldnโ€™t work. If he found out she was planning against him, it would only make things worse, so she decided to be honest and told him everything.

Tyler nodded thoughtfully, then sneered, โ€œAm I your personal property? How can you be so sure Iโ€™d want the one you pushed on me?"

Rachel tilted her head and blurted out in frustration, โ€œYou donโ€™t like Yvette? Then what do you want? Someone like Samanthaโ€”fragile and crying all the time?โ€

She thought Yvetteโ€™s personality and background werenโ€™t perfect, but maybe it was just Yvetteโ€™s attitude toward her that was bad. As for looks, Yvetteโ€™s parents were both good-looking, and she herself was stunningโ€”like a fiery princess from a fairytale. A little temper, but when it was just the right amount, it could be a charm.

Tyler suddenly looked uneasy, his brow furrowing as he instinctively pressed a hand to his chest. Seeing this, Rachel quickly stepped forward and steadied him.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? If you donโ€™t want to agree, I wonโ€™t force you. But you donโ€™t have to get this upset, Mr. Hunt.โ€ She had expected it all along. With Tylerโ€™s lone-wolf nature, he probably wouldnโ€™t listen to even his own family, let alone someone like her, who barely knew him.

Tyler suddenly felt short of breath, and sweat appeared on his forehead. He grabbed Rachelโ€™s wrist tightly.

โ€œRachel, this mess is your own doing. You have to take responsibility!โ€

Rachel looked confused. โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

She noticed Tylerโ€™s face looked worse by the second, but why did he say it was her fault?

โ€œDonโ€™t you know well enough to recognize whatโ€™s happening?โ€

Rachelโ€™s mind blanked. She froze, unable to move at all. Her mouth felt sealed shut, and after a long moment, she barely managed to whisper, โ€œYou... You were drugged? Who did it?โ€

Tyler rested his head on her shoulder, tilting it slightly. His warm breath brushed against her ear, making her skin tingle all over. โ€œThat glass of wineโ€”you were the one who gave it to me, werenโ€™t you?โ€

Rachelโ€™s mind finally caught up, and she gasped. โ€œThat glass of wineโ€ฆ I got it from the waiter. Thereโ€™s no way it was drugged! No one else touched it.โ€

Tyler glanced toward Yvette in the hall behind them, and snorted softly.

โ€œIf it werenโ€™t for the fact that youโ€™re your motherโ€™s daughter, Iโ€™d think you two were working together to trap me.โ€

Rachelโ€™s eyes widened in shock. โ€œIf I set you up, Iโ€™d be digging my own grave!โ€

She wasnโ€™t stupid enough to think she could outsmart Tyler, the man even William feared. She was no match for him.

Tyler raised an eyebrow. โ€œI donโ€™t care. You have to take responsibility for this.โ€

Rachel nearly lost her breath, and she stammered, โ€œHow am I supposed to do that?โ€
