Chapter 109: A Situation with No Outcome
Amber scoffed softly. "I won't bother you anymore. I just wanted to give you some good news. I'm leaving. You must be pretty happy about that, right?"
She continued, "But I must say that Miller Manor isn't a place for someone like you. You're not from that world. Forcing yourself into it will only make everyone…"
Bella pressed her lips together. "Are you done? I have work to do. I'm leaving."
Amber shot her a glance as she stepped into the elevator. "There's no such thing as love that doesn't sour—only eternal interests. Compared to you, I'm far more valuable to Dominic!"
Three days later, Bella fully understood Amber's meaning. Business headlines announced a powerful alliance between the Miller Group and the Yates family; photos of the two parties together dominated the news. The Yates family, having relocated overseas years ago, were part of an elite circle of overseas Eclacians. Amber and Dominic seemed a perfect match, leaving Bella even more insignificant.
Simultaneously, Amber left for Joville and returned abroad. Before leaving, she clearly planted a "bomb" for Bella.
Bella understood, but even without Amber's words, she had no desire to return to Miller Manor.
When Lia heard Amber had left, she was ecstatic. "That scheming bitch is finally gone! Now you can go back to Miller Manor, Bella. She was just afraid you'd end up with Dominic. You should totally rub it in her face!"
In a low mood, Bella replied, "Is it worth ruining myself to get back at someone like her? I don't plan on going back to Miller Manor. Why? Are you kicking me out?"
Lia gave her a strange look. "You know very well you're welcome here. But seriously, why don't you want to go back? She's gone. Why leave the place open for her?"
Bella flopped onto the bed, feigning death. Lia smacked her until she sat up. Annoyed, Bella kicked her legs. "Stop asking! I just don't want to go back. I never believed there would be anything real between Dominic and me. A few days ago, I saw Amber at the hospital. She had a pregnancy report. You know what that means, right?"
Stunned, Lia struggled to process this. "Wait, are you saying she and Dominic are really together? And now she's pregnant? Plus, the Miller Group and the Yates family are tied together. Well, it really seems like you're out of the picture now."
Bella's lips turned pale as she bit her lip. Feeling suffocated, she walked to the window and opened it for air. "I was never in the picture from the start, so stop talking about it."
Though Lia doubted Bella's calm exterior masked her true feelings, she said nothing.
The apartment atmosphere grew heavy and tense.
Around 10:00 p.m., Lia cut up a watermelon, and the two sat on the bed, eating it while watching a show. When Bella's phone rang, she ignored it, keeping her eyes fixed on her laptop screen. (The FindNovel.net advertisement should be removed.)
Lia glanced at the caller ID. "It's Dominic. You're not going to answer?"
Bella shook her head. "No. Put it on silent."

Ten minutes later, there was a knock at the door. The watermelon suddenly tasted less sweet to Bella. Lia noticed her dark expression and wasn't sure what to do. "It's Dominic, isn't it? Should I open the door?"
Bella took a deep breath. "I'll go. You keep watching. I'll be back."
Though curious, Lia didn't want to get involved. She stayed on the bed, listening intently.
When Bella opened the door, Dominic stood there, his expression grim.
