Chapter 134: I'd Much Rather Be Your Man
Bella spent the whole night pondering Dominic's words. She even dreamed about them.
Early the next morning, she went downstairs for breakfast and saw Dominic was still there. Gathering her courage, she said cautiously, "Dearest elder brother, you're leaving rather late today." Dominic glared at her before saying, "Fuck off."
Seeing the lack of real anger in his tone, Bella smiled and said, "The weather's lovely today"
Dominic ignored her, but before leaving, he said, "I don't like being your brother. I would much rather be your man. Wait for me to come home tonight."
Bella's smile vanished. She knew she would pay for provoking him. She shouldn't have teased him with his words from yesterday.
Perhaps he didn't understand how significant that statement was to Bella, but it meant that after twenty years, he had finally acknowledged their relationship had progressed beyond a sibling bond. This was something she had longed for.
After her shift, she went to Lia's studio as usual. However, Lia seemed overwhelmed with work and unusually busy.
Slightly shocked, Bella asked, "Did you accept a new case? Have you moved on from your breakup?"
Lia rolled her eyes. "Bella, can you stop picking at my wounds? I have a big case, and my client is in a hurry. I don't have time to spend with you. Sit down and do your own thing. Order takeout if you're hungry."
Bella pursed her lips. "I just wanted to check on you. I'll leave soon. Is your client Leonard again? I don't want him to ruin your mood again."
Lia nearly snapped. "A lot of what you've said has come true lately. Don't jinx it! I'm sure he's not my client this time. I've already spoken to the client myself. Now, go somewhere else."
When busy, one doesn't have time to think of anything else. Seeing Lia's state, Bella felt reassured. She didn't disturb her and went home after a while.
By the time she arrived home, Dominic had showered and changed into casual clothes. From his tone, he seemed to be discussing work.
She didn't dare disturb him and went to her room. Sylvia approached her. "Dinner is ready. I'll call Mr. Miller."
He was on the phone in the courtyard. Judging from his tone, he seemed to be talking about work.
Bella nodded. "Okay, but he's on the phone. Keep your voice down when you call him. I'll shower quickly." After a quick shower, she went downstairs, her hair still damp. Dominic had finished his call and was sitting at the dining table, texting on his phone and not yet eating.
Bella gently tapped the table. "You can continue after dinner. The food will get cold."
Dominic looked at her. "Oh, are you telling me what to do? You're not even seated yet. Eat first."
Bella wanted to roll her eyes, but simply said, "It's up to you. I was just being considerate."
After five minutes, Dominic put down his phone and began to eat, glancing at her occasionally. She had just showered, and the scent of her shampoo filled the air. Her shoulder-length hair was down, and water droplets dripped down her neck and into her shirt.
Dominic's gaze darkened. He gulped. "How am I supposed to eat like this?"
Bella looked up, confused. "What?"
He put down his fork, unhappy. "Go dry your hair."
Bella wanted to say her wet hair wouldn't bother him, but seeing his expression, she obediently went to her room and dried her hair.
