Chapter 152: Terrifying

Once Lia calmed down, she realized her outburst had been a death wish. Leonard wasn't going to give her an explanation, and there was no justice to be had. She'd simply wanted to vent her frustration.

She pushed against him desperately, but he didn't budge. His tall, sturdy frame was like an immovable mountain.

Panicked, Lia shouted, "Bella! Bella, I'm here! Help!"

Leonard looked at her as if she were crazy and quickly covered her mouth. "Why are you screaming? I'm not doing anything to you. If you want to talk, then talk. There's no need to call for help!"

Lia's eyes widened in terror as she struggled, making muffled sounds. After a moment, she stopped. Seeing she had quieted down, Leonard cautiously warned, "Don't scream. You wanted an explanation, and I've given you one. I still have work to do, so stop causing a scene."

Lia nodded cautiously, tears glistening in her eyes. As soon as Leonard loosened his grip, she immediately yelled again, "Help! He—"

Before she could finish, Leonard covered her mouth again, this time with his lips.

Lia thrashed wildly in his arms. The kiss from an unfamiliar man filled her with fear. In her panic, she scratched his pale neck, leaving several red lines. He seemed not to notice, focused only on calming her. Suddenly, Lia went limp. Leonard sensed something was wrong and released her. When he saw her pale face and rapid breathing, he realized what was happening.

"Is your illness acting up?" he asked.

Lia trembled and nodded. Leaning against him, she whispered, "M-My medicine in my bag Hurry"

Leonard quickly dumped the contents of her bag onto the floor and found her emergency medication. After helping her take it, he softly asked, "Do you need to go to the hospital?"

Lia shook her head. She was still pale and unable to stand without leaning on him. "No I'll be fine in a bit. Just stop messing with me. I made a mistake, okay? I just want to date"

Leonard paused. He was about to say something when Bella arrived. She was startled by the scattered items and Lia's condition.

"What happened?" she asked.

Leonard cleared his throat. "Her heart condition acted up again. You came at the right time. You're a doctor, so you can take care of her. I have to get back to work, so I need to go."

And just like that, Bella took over Lia's care.

Once Leonard was out of earshot, Lia urged Bella, "Come on, let's get out of here! That was fucking terrifying!"

Back in the car, it took Lia a while to calm down. Bella asked, "What exactly happened? You were doing just fine, so how did your condition suddenly act up? I told you not to get too worked up. You need to manage your emotions."

Lia pouted. "I fucking lost my first kiss! I yelled for help, then he covered my mouth I couldn't confront him further, so I had to back off! Ugh, I can't do anything but endure this frustration for now. Once I have money, I'll make sure to step all over him! He'd better hope I never have a chance to get back at him!"

Bella was speechless. "He wouldn't hit you even with all the noise you made, right? Plus, calling for help in his family's company? That would create such a scene! The only thing he could do was cover your mouth. Even if it wasn't the right way to handle it Well, I told you not to come here. You've only met a few times, and all you do is argue. He can't possibly have feelings for you, right?"

At the mention of that possibility, Lia turned green.

"Come on! I barely know him! We've only met a few times and always end up fighting. Forget about him having feelings for me—I definitely won't have any for him! Argh! Enough of that. Let's hurry back. I need to calm down, or I might just die here!"
