Chapter 151: I'll Take Responsibility

Lia was eager to confront Leonard. Bella, feeling pressured by Lia's intensity, reluctantly called him.

"Leonard," she said, "are you still holding a grudge against Lia? Did you cause her two ex-boyfriends to break up with her?"

Leonard was oddly silent. Bella found this unsettling. After several attempts to get his attention, he finally replied, "What did you say? I'm busy now. Let's talk later." Before Bella could respond, he hung up. Frustrated by the lack of answers, Lia became restless.

"I'm going to see him! I know where his office is!" she declared.

Lia's fury was evident. Bella, concerned that a confrontation might lead to a misunderstanding, tried to restrain her.

"Leonard is busy," Bella said. "Can't we wait? What if it's a misunderstanding? I don't think Leonard would do that. He's a big shot—why would he bother with you? You're focusing on the wrong thing! You're my friend, and I don't think he'd be that cruel."

But Lia was insistent. Seeing no other option to prevent a potential disaster, Bella agreed to accompany her. Upon arriving at the Sawyer family's company, Lia rushed inside, her eyes red-rimmed, her carefully applied makeup smudged with tears.

As they entered the lobby, Bella froze. The three Sawyer brothers, their parents, and two foreign guests were leaving.

A scene now would be catastrophic!

Bella quickly grabbed Lia, but Lia, focused solely on Leonard, shrugged her off and marched directly to him. She grabbed his tie and pulled him aside in front of everyone!

Not just Bella—everyone was stunned.

Daniel was the first to speak. "Dr. Jones, what's going on? Is this your friend?"

Mortified, Bella stammered, "S-she's my friend. There's a misunderstanding between her and Leonard. It's nothing serious. Perhaps it's best if we let them resolve it. I apologize for the disruption and poor timing. Please, continue with your business."

Daniel, trusting Bella, told his guests, "Let's not worry about the young people. Let's go eat."

As they left, Bella broke into a cold sweat. How could Lia be so reckless? They were on Sawyer family territory! Things could have easily spiraled out of control.

Turning back, Bella found Lia and Leonard gone. Panicked, she frantically searched for them.

Meanwhile, around the corner of the stairs, Lia glared at Leonard. "Is it you?" she demanded.

Leonard adjusted his tie. "What are you talking about?" he asked flatly.

Lia gritted her teeth. "Stop pretending! I've already apologized! What more do you want? If you have a problem with me, just say it! Why are you interfering in my love life? Are you crazy? I'm not letting this go until we clear this up!"

Leonard took a deep breath. "Yes, it's me. But I don't have time now. We can talk later."

Lia refused to let it drop. She grabbed his sleeve. "Your time matters, but mine doesn't? Since you admitted it, you owe me an explanation. Are you going to take responsibility if I can't get married?"

Leonard suddenly gripped her shoulders, pinning her against the wall. He leaned in, his gaze intense.

"I'll take responsibility."

Lia felt scared and intimidated. He was a madman!
