Chapter 52: Blind Date
Back in her shower, Bela opened the gift box from the Sawyer family. It was a necklace; the owl-shaped sapphire surrounded by diamonds was breathtaking. Its beauty made her pause.
Bella took a photo and sent it to Lia, hoping to find out the price. Lia usually was still up at this hour. Sure enough, Lia replied immediately.
After reading Lia's reply, she couldn't believe the necklace was worth ten thousand dollars. Bella couldn't help but feel the Sawyers were very generous.
She didn't know what came over her, but she told Lia she was thinking about getting into a serious relationship. Maybe it was a passing thought, or perhaps loneliness, but she wanted to give it a shot. She impulsively promised to introduce Lia to someone trustworthy.
The next morning, Bella had completely forgotten last night's conversation. To her surprise, a few days later, Lia actually came to the hospital to see her, bringing her "blind date." (Remove the website advertisement)
Bella was dumbfounded. She'd never been on a blind date or had a serious relationship before, and the whole arrangement felt overwhelming.
As she was about to finish her shift, Lia told her she was waiting at the hospital entrance with someone.
Since Bella hadn't worn makeup that day and was dressed casually, she had to rush to the tram to apply some lipstick and try to look more presentable.
As soon as she emerged from the hospital, she felt awkward. When she noticed it was only Lia, she breathed a sigh of relief and walked up to her.
"Where's the guy you brought?" she asked.
Lia asked with a cheeky smile, "Are you that eager to meet him?"
Bella smiled slightly. "Didn't you say he was from Jovelle? What's his name? It's a bit rude to leave him waiting, don't you think? We should at least offer him a drink, since you brought him here."
Lia linked arms with her and teased, "He's waiting for us at the restaurant. Let's go."
On the way, Lia gushed about how great the man was, but Bella couldn't muster any interest. She couldn't stop thinking about Dominic. It was as if he'd cast a spell on her, making it impossible to open up to anyone else. She was aware of this, but she chose to ignore it and force herself to give it a try.
Arriving at the restaurant, she stopped, took several deep breaths, as if making an important decision, then walked in.
It was an upscale restaurant with a nice ambiance—just the kind of place she liked.
She waved to someone. When Bella looked over, he stopped and grabbed Lia's arm. "Are you kidding me?"
Worried that he might leave, Lia held his wrist. "Look, you're already here. I honestly think you two are perfect for each other. I just told him about your situation, and he immediately dropped everything to travel from Jovelle to meet you. Can't you see how much he cares about you?" Bella started to cry. She couldn't believe the blind date Lia had set her up with was Felix.
Lia continued, "If you had said yes when he confessed his feelings back then, none of this would have happened. Why don't you give him a chance? If things don't work out, you can just part ways amicably. But if it does, it'll be a happy ending to a love that should have been." (Remove "Act Fast Free Bonus Time is Running Out")
