Leonard, acknowledging his lack of diplomacy, knew Bella and Dominic were like ticking time bombs, and he didn't want to detonate either.
Initially, she planned to create a scene at the airport, believing Dominic wouldn't be able to whisk her away. However, she soon realized she had been overly optimistic. The Sawyer family's private jet was already waiting, having been left there when Daniel had landed and returned to the country.
Once on the plane, she refused to cooperate. She attempted to get off several times before takeoff. "Behave yourself, or we'll have to restrain you," Leonard silently grabbed a rope and started tying her down. Bella cursed, "How could you, the esteemed scion of the Soperly family, do something like this?" Leonard sighed. "Please, let's not make this harder than it has to be. Just bear with me for a while. The plane will take off in half an hour, so calm down."
The plane ride was fraught with tension. As soon as they landed in Jove, Bella knew she had no more control over the situation. She'd been forced onto the plane, and she refused to disembark upon arrival.
Dominic walked up to her, leaning in with a smirk. "Do you still want someone to carry you?"
She glared menacingly. "Can't I at least quit my job? I haven't gotten my pay yet, and we already paid my rent."
He hadn't counted on Dominic's reaction. In fact, he was amused by how petty she sounded. "Don't worry about your job. I'll pay you, and I'll refund you ten times the rent. Now, are you going to lease your own place, or should I help you?"
Tears welled up in her eyes as she rose, pushed past him, and got off the plane. He had, secretly, intended to let her go.
When she arrived at Mill Manor, she was greeted by bodyguards standing at the entrance. There were also gardeners and bakers working in the courtyard. The whole manor was brightly lit. This place hadn't been this lively in a long time, and for a brief moment, she felt disoriented.
Leonard didn't follow them in. "I'll be keeping my word, Dominic. You're on your own. If she ends up blaming me, it's all your fault."
The weight of what she felt was too heavy to bear. Hearing that, Bella turned and walked inside. She couldn't bear to be in their presence for another second. There, Bella couldn't understand why Dominic, who used to treat her as if she were invisible, was now taking things so seriously. She'd rather he just go back to ignoring her. Already the early hours of the morning, Bella took a shower and returned to bed, aware that she wouldn't be able to sleep. She tossed and turned. Even though Dominic had left her alone that night, it didn't mean the peace would last. Maybe he was just worn out from all the drama.
Her phone was with Dominic, and while it was password-protected, what if Felix called? The more she thought about it, the more she felt she couldn't just let it go; she had to fight for her basic rights.
Bella got out of bed and walked over to Dominic's room, knocking firmly on the door. When there was no answer, she figured he was deliberately ignoring her, so she knocked harder. Suddenly, the door swung open, and her hand landed on his chest.
Bella noticed he was only wrapped in a towel, and there were droplets on his skin. It dawned on her that he must have just come out of the shower.
His scowl made it obvious that he was annoyed by her interruption. (The final promotional sentences have been removed as they are irrelevant to the story itself.)
