Chapter 82: Not Everyone Can Bully the Millers

Simon quickly pulled his wife back into the car and sped away, as if escaping a crime scene. Flaine, still shaken, flared up. "What does Dominic think he's doing? I can't believe he dared to hit me! He's getting above himself. We're all in the business world; who doesn't have money? Why did you pull me away?"

Simon, usually gentle with Flaine, snapped. He slammed on the brakes and turned to her, his expression grim. "Shut up!" he shouted.

Flaine was taken aback. "What did you just say? Simon, if it weren't for me, you'd still be living like a stray. Bella and her mother are in this mess because of your philandering! If I'd known about your child before we married, I wouldn't have given you a second glance! Who do you think you are? Try shouting at me again!"

Every word stung, but they were true. He had climbed the social ladder through his marriage.

He swallowed his anger, his tone softening. "Honey, I'm not trying to yell, but I've been running this company for years. You don't know these people. Do you know who Dominic is? He's connected to the Sawyer family! We can't afford to mess with them."

Flaine's face paled. "Are you saying Dominic is close to the Sawyers? Why didn't you tell me? I wasn't doing anything wrong! And Bella's kidney? Are we just going to give up?"

Simon sighed. "My health isn't good enough. You'll have to donate yours. It's the only way."

Flaine was reluctant. "I was hoping we could get one for free. My health isn't great either!"

Her continued complaining frustrated Simon. After a moment of silence, he restarted the engine and drove off. Remembering Dominic's look, Simon realized he'd intended to kill his wife.

Later, Bella stared out the car window, lost in thought. She'd left her car at the hospital. Dominic hadn't mentioned the incident. He focused on driving, but noticing her tears, tossed her a tissue box. "Don't cry in front of me."

Bella realized she had been crying and quickly wiped her tears. "I'm sorry for the trouble. I'm afraid there might be more issues. Simon has been plotting against me for a long time. Please don't go out of your way for me."

"There won't be a next time," Dominic said confidently.

Bella sensed a deeper meaning. "Why?"

He didn't answer, giving her a meaningful sideways glance. Bella recalled him introducing her as his girlfriend. "Why did you say I was your girlfriend?"

She worried Simon might use this against her. She didn't want to cause Dominic trouble.

Dominic snorted. "If I hadn't, they'd believe my family had ignored you. No one bullies someone from the Miller family. Remember that. From now on, hold your head high and stop being so timid."
