Chapter 32: Mr. Winford Got Jealous

โ€œWho said that?โ€ She turned her gaze away, feeling guilty, her heart full of anxiety.

โ€œSo it was true?โ€

If it was true, if there really was someone I liked, then why did I treat him so well? Because of sympathy? Pity? Was it still because of his power?

Ophelia keenly sensed the danger and immediately said without thinking, โ€œOf course not! Who slandered me?!โ€

She hurriedly knelt down on one knee, leaned on the armrest, held onto his arm, tilted her little face up, and her big eyes were filled with sincerity.

โ€œHoney, I only liked you! Who is Cullen? He doesnโ€™t deserve my affection! Who was talking nonsense to you? That must have been slandering me; you mustnโ€™t believe it!โ€

Winfordโ€™s expression remained unchanged as he slightly lowered his eyes to look at her, his gaze dim. โ€œBut I saw that you seemed to be quite familiar with him.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆI used to know him.โ€ This matter couldnโ€™t be hidden, and Ophelia didnโ€™t dare to lie to him, so she could only honestly admit, โ€œBut I really didnโ€™t like him at all. I wasnโ€™t even friends with him!โ€

โ€œIs that so?โ€ Winford wasnโ€™t so easily fooled. โ€œFrom what I observed, his attitude towards you doesnโ€™t seem like โ€˜not even friends.โ€™โ€

โ€œThat was just his own wishful thinking!โ€ Ophelia said disdainfully, pouting her lips. Then she couldnโ€™t help but feel secretly pleased. โ€œHoney, were you feeling jealous?โ€

Winford slightly pursed his lips.

Ophelia pressed her small face against the back of his hand, her voice soft and sweet, โ€œYou are so good; he canโ€™t compare to you at all. I would never like him!โ€

In her eyes, there was pure and sincere emotion, looking at him so seriously as if he were her entire world.

Winford was captivated and couldnโ€™t help but gently raise his hand, his slightly calloused hand brushing against her cheek.

The ticklish feeling made Ophelia shrink her neck. When she met his deep gaze, her heart skipped a beat. She stubbornly held back and didnโ€™t dodge, but her ears couldnโ€™t help but turn a bit red.

He suddenly came to his senses, withdrew his hand, and his expression returned to calm in an instant.

โ€œLetโ€™s go home.โ€

Ophelia couldnโ€™t tell whether she felt disappointed or relieved, โ€œโ€ฆoh.โ€

She got up to push his wheelchair and asked, โ€œSo, darling, do you believe me now?โ€

She muttered, โ€œI already threw Cullen into the water, and you still donโ€™t believe me. Iโ€™ll go back and throw him in again!โ€

The tone did not seem to be joking; there was indeed such an intention.

10:05 Graham: Cullen was such an unfortunate thing. Returned to Sunset Vista.

Winford had something to deal with, so Ophelia first pushed him into the study before returning to her own room.

As soon as I got closer, I ran into Elva just as she was coming out of her room! Unexpectedly, she returned suddenly, and Elvaโ€™s expression changed dramatically.

Opheliaโ€™s gaze turned cold. โ€œWhat did you come into my room for?โ€

Elva lowered her head and said, โ€œMadam, I went in to help you clean.โ€

Ophelia didnโ€™t believe a word of it. She stared at Elva and said, โ€œHow could I not remember that my room was your responsibility?โ€

Elva said, โ€œAt first, it was Madeline who was in charge, but now that Madeline is no longer here, it has temporarily changed to me.โ€

Ophelia took a glance and saw that she was indeed wearing a maidโ€™s outfit.

She squinted her eyes and said, โ€œGo down!โ€

Elva quietly breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly left.

Ophelia walked into the room and immediately opened the surveillance records. From the video, it could be seen that Elva had come in half an hour ago and was indeed cleaning the room in a somewhat proper manner.

However, Opheliaโ€™s eyes were sharp, and she immediately noticed that the other person was quietly searching for something under the guise of cleaning the room.

What were you looking for?

She immediately remembered the nonexistent recording that she had fabricated.

So what the other party wanted to find was a mobile phone, a computer, or a USB drive?

Ophelia suddenly smiled as she touched her chin. She had originally wanted to find Bertha to have her arrange for someone to clean the room again, but now, she had changed her mind.

How could this opportunity not be given to Elva?

At dinner time, when Elva saw Ophelia coming downstairs, she took a furtive glance at her, feeling a bit anxious and nervous. However, until they finished eating, Ophelia did not mention the matter of changing the person who would do the cleaning, as if she had forgotten about it.

Elva, surprised, quietly breathed a sigh of relief, while secretly mocking Ophelia for her foolishness and lack of vigilance.

Ophelia glanced at her without showing any emotion and noticed her eyes flickering, not knowing what she was planning. She couldnโ€™t help but gently tug at her lips.

Elva was honest, and that was good; if she hadnโ€™t been honest, then she shouldnโ€™t blame others for digging a pit for her!

Back upstairs, Ophelia received a call from Samuel.

She frowned and answered the call, โ€œWhat is it?โ€

Chapter 32: Mr. Winford Got Jealous

โ€œWhat is it? You still dare to ask me what it is?! Look at what you did to Bessie, donโ€™t you feel the slightest bit of guilt?! Get back here immediately!โ€ Samuel shouted angrily on the phone.

Ophelia then remembered that when she left, Bessie had fainted in the pool.

โ€œHow was she?โ€ she asked casually, bending her lips slightly. It wasnโ€™t concern; I just wanted to know how miserable Bessie was now.

โ€œBessie had a fever of thirty-nine degrees!โ€ Samuel shouted angrily. โ€œBessie said you deliberately threw her into the water? Ophelia! Do you still remember that she is your sister? How could you be so cruel?!โ€

โ€œOnly thirty-nine degrees?โ€ Ophelia tugged at her lip. โ€œThis wonโ€™t kill anyone. Compared to when she pushed me into the water in the middle of winter when I was a child, making me have a fever of forty degrees, this is nothing. I had time to go back and take a look!โ€

She finished speaking perfunctorily and, regardless of the furious outburst on the other end, Ophelia directly hung up the phone.

She complained to Samuel that she didnโ€™t want to go back, but she was still quite eager to see Bessieโ€™s miserable situation. So the next day, she ran to the study door, leaned against the doorframe, and said to Winford, โ€œHoney, Iโ€™m going back to the Greene family for a while!โ€

Winford was working in the office when he heard a sound. He looked towards the door and immediately saw her cute figure leaning over at the entrance.

โ€œGo ahead,โ€ he put down a document in his hand.

Ophelia turned to leave, but suddenly turned back, ran up to him, and hugged him quickly. โ€œI will come back early!โ€

Winford only felt a faint fragrance wafting towards him, lingering at the tip of his nose. Before he could react, the person had already slipped away quickly.

My heart raced for a moment, feeling both itchy and numb. In a daze, a sudden excited scream came from the computer.

โ€œWow! Was that just now your newly married wife? Thatโ€™s so sweet! Winford is so lucky!โ€

Winford suddenly came to his senses and warned in a low voice, โ€œShut up!โ€

โ€œI was already in such a miserable state, and you still wouldnโ€™t allow me to be happy for a moment?โ€ The other person pretended to sound pitiful.

On the screen, there was a video call with a handsome man who looked like a playboy sitting across from Winford, and like Winford, he was also sitting in a wheelchair.

He spoke with a bitter tone: โ€œI am not like you. You will be able to leave after a while, but I have to undergo amputationโ€ฆ My mom has consulted so many doctors, and they all said there was no way, unless some miracle doctor appeared. Otherwise, I would have to live as a disabled person for the rest of my life.โ€
