Listen to this chapter:

After dinner, she checked with Raymond whether he was home before heading upstairs. “Mr. Chandler, these are for you.”

“For me?” Raymond took the bag from her and peeked inside. He was perplexed. Why had Vespera suddenly handed him stomach relief tablets and other types of stomach medication?

Vespera explained, “I took some of the medication Calvert bought for you. I was afraid you might suddenly need them, so I bought some to replenish your stock.”

“Calvert?” Raymond looked more confused than ever. Then, he suddenly recalled something and patted his head with a smile. “Ah, right. I just remembered asking Calvert to buy me some medicine. I’m really getting old—my memory is becoming worse.”

“Mr. Chandler, take care of yourself, okay?”

“I’m old, so it’s natural I get sick now and then.”

Vespera recalled the large box of medication. Raymond’s health seemed rather poor. Taking care of Dominic was definitely mentally and physically exhausting. Vespera and Raymond were chatting in the living room when Dominic walked in with a book in his hand. He was wearing loose-fitting beige lounge clothes and non-prescription glasses.

Dominic looked like a typical handsome young scion. Without his usual suit and leather shoes, he came across as charming and elegant.

Vespera quickly greeted Dominic. “Mr. Reid.”

Realizing she was there, he stopped to look at her nonchalantly before dropping his gaze to the bag in Raymond’s hand. Dominic hummed in response before taking a seat in the living room. Then, he propped the book in his lap and flipped through it.

Vespera wondered if Dominic came out to read because the living room had better lighting. Instead of voicing her thoughts, she turned to speak to Raymond.

“I’m making soup downstairs. Since I’ve dropped off the medicine, I’ll leave now.”

Vespera was about to leave when she heard Dominic say, “I heard you were having stomach problems.”

His voice sounded indifferent, as if he were merely asking out of courtesy.

Vespera turned back to him. “That was two days ago.”

Dominic looked up from his book at her. “Feeling better?”

“Yes. Thank you for asking, Mr. Reid.”

“Have a good rest at home.”

“I will. Have a good weekend, Mr. Reid.” Vespera bade goodbye again before hurrying off.

Dominic watched her disappear with a slight scowl. A happy weekend? Why did Vespera assume he would be having a good weekend?
