Chapter 72

At 1:53 pm, the private jet landed at the airport. As Vespera stepped off the jet, she saw the Bentley parked ahead. She smiled at Dominic and said, “Mr. Reid, you go ahead. Don’t worry about me.”

Dominic glanced at her with a faint expression. He didn’t say anything and walked straight ahead. Orrard quickly said to Vespera, “See you later.” He hurried to catch up and went over to open the car door for Dominic. Afterward, he took his seat in the front passenger seat.

Inside the car, Raymond, who was driving, glanced at Lake and Vespera through the rearview mirror. For a moment, he seemed lost in thought.

“Why is Mx Gildon in a wheelchair? Did her ex-husband hurt her? If we leave her, will she be in danger?”

Gerard chuckled, “Mr. Chandler, you’re overthinking it. Her injury has nothing to do with her ex-husband…”

“Actually, they’re not divorced yet, so he can’t be considered an ex. And judging by the way things are going, it looks like they might get back together?”

“What? They’re getting back together?”

“Yes. She asked us to go ahead, telling us not to worry about her. That means she wants to go home with Lake to rebuild their life together. Doesn’t that sound like a reconciliation?”

“But I saw her Instagram posts. They seemed pretty pitiful.”

“What Instagram posts?” Raymond pulled out his phone to show Gerard.

Just as they were leaning together to look at the screen, a cold, low voice interrupted, “Drive.”

The atmosphere inside the car immediately grew tense. Both Raymond and Gerard quickly quieted down, and Raymond started the car.

After driving for a while, Dominic’s voice came again, sharp and distant. “Raise the partition.”

Raymond pressed the button to raise the partition, quickly creating a private space between the front and back of the car. Dominic’s mood was clearly not good.

At that moment, Lake was in the best mood. He was pushing Vespera through the VIP passage at the airport. Now and then, he would adjust her hair or bend down to chat with her. Every time she responded, he felt a surge of happiness, the joy almost spilling over from his heart.

However, that joy was shattered the moment he saw Tina. Tina stood on the busy sidewalk, surrounded by people and traffic. Her expression was fragile, and she looked as if the wind could knock her over. But what stood out the most was the bandage on her wrist, stained with blood.

Osbert stood next to the car, holding his phone. He had intended to give Lake a heads-up, but before he could, Luke came out. Luke’s expression darkened.

“Luke…” Tina rushed forward.

Just as she was about to reach Vespera, Luke stepped forward and extended his hand to block her. His expression was harsh. “Thad your brother pass along a message to you. If you still don’t understand, I’ll say it one more time. From now on, I want nothing to do with you. Don’t come near me again.”

Tina looked at him, tears streaming from her eyes. Despite the overwhelming hatred she felt toward Vespera, she thought of Elena’s words and forced herself to calm down. “I’m not here to cause trouble. I won’t interfere with you and Vespera’s marriage anymore. I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll go back to how it was before, just seeing you as a brother. Is that okay?”

Luke’s expression softened slightly upon hearing her words. “It’s good that you understand. Now, please move aside. We need to leave,” Luke said, trying to get her to leave. He didn’t care about the drama she was trying to create. He simply wanted to get her out of the way before she caused a scene in front of everyone.

Tina sniffled, looking pitiful. Then, suddenly, she bypassed Luke and knelt in front of Vespera, creating a scene that attracted the attention of everyone nearby. Luke’s eyes bulged with anger. “Tina! What are you doing now?”

Vespera, composed as always, raised a hand to stop him. “Let her speak.”

“Vespera, please don’t blame Luke anymore. It’s all my fault. I’ll break up with him, and I won’t bother him again. Please don’t divorce him. I’m begging you,” Tina cried, her voice full of desperation, her tears flowing down her face in a way that was both pitiful and pleading.
