He had one hand casually in his pocket, looking sharp in his perfectly tailored suit. His gaze swept coolly over everyone before landing on Anastasia, and he walked straight toward her with a slight smile. “Ready to go home?”
The room went dead silent, everyone’s eyes glued to Cassian.
Ailee was the first to react, jumping up excitedly. “Mr. Rhodes! What brings you here?”
Cassian didn’t even glance her way, walking straight to Anastasia and naturally slipping his arm around her waist. “You done eating?”
If he hadn’t shown up, his wife probably would’ve gotten swept away by some other guy. Cassian had been keeping tabs on what was happening in this room. The second he heard someone was hitting on his wife, he’d come right over.
Anastasia’s ears turned pink as she nodded softly. “Yeah.”
Tamia was trying not to laugh, while Garthan frowned slightly, his eyes moving back and forth between Cassian and Anastasia.
Ailee couldn’t let it go and pressed again. “Mr. Rhodes, you know Anastasia?”
Only then did Cassian spare her a glance, his tone completely flat. “She’s my wife.”
Those three words absolutely exploded in the room.
“Wife?!”
“Anastasia is Mrs. Rhodes?!”
“Oh my God, so those dishes were ordered because of Anastasia?!”
Ailee’s face went ghost white, feeling completely humiliated.
Hayley was too shocked to speak.
Garthan gripped his wine glass so tight his knuckles went white, but quickly released it and forced a smile. “Well, congratulations then.”
Cassian gave him a cool look with unmistakable possessiveness in his eyes. Men could always tell what other men were thinking. When he’d walked in, this guy had been all over Anastasia.
Anastasia felt super awkward with everyone staring at her—she really wasn’t used to being the center of attention—so she tugged on Cassian’s sleeve. “Can we go?”
Cassian nodded and took her hand, giving the room a polite nod. “Enjoy the rest of your evening, everyone. The bill’s taken care of. Let’s do this again soon.”
With that, he led Anastasia out of the private room.
Only after they’d disappeared did the room explode with heated discussion.
“Anastasia actually married Mr. Rhodes?"
“Holy shit, she kept that so quiet!”
“Right? Anastasia hit the jackpot—Mr. Rhodes is gorgeous and loaded. I’m so jealous!”
"Can you believe Ailee was just claiming those dishes were ordered for her? They were obviously all about Anastasia?"
Ailee was mortified and furious, grabbing her purse and bolting from the room. She literally couldn’t show her face there anymore. How had this happened?
Damnit!
This was all Anastasia’s fault—had she done this on purpose? She was Mrs. Rhodes but acted all mysterious, making Ailee look like a complete fool in front of everyone.
Fucking bitch!
After Ailee stormed out, Hayley quickly followed.
Tamia was in an amazing mood, casually sipping her wine and looking at Garthan. “Looks like some people are just meant to belong to someone else, Garthan.”
Garthan smiled bitterly and downed his entire glass in one go.
