Chapter 139
Anastasia was led by Cassian out of the hotel, the night air cool against her skin. She couldn’t help but ask, “Weren’t you in the middle of a business dinner? How come you just showed up? Did your thing wrap up?”
Cassian glanced at her, his eyes intense. “If I hadn’t come over, someone would’ve stolen my wife.”
Anastasia blinked, then burst out laughing. “Are you actually jealous?”
Cassian owned it completely. “Yeah, I’m jealous as hell.”
Warmth flooded Anastasia’s chest as she linked her arm through his. “Don’t worry, nobody’s stealing me away.”
Cassian chuckled low, leaning down to whisper in her ear. “You can prove that to me when we get home.”
Anastasia’s face went red as she playfully swatted him. “You’re impossible!”
The moment they stepped through their front door, the atmosphere shifted. Cassian turned to face her, his eyes dark with an intensity that made her breath catch.
“That guy tonight,” he said, his voice rougher than usual, “the way he was looking at you…”
Anastasia could see the vulnerability beneath his jealousy. “Cassian—”
“Do you have any idea what that did to me?” He stepped closer, backing her against the door. “Watching him lean in close to you, the way his eyes lit up when you smiled….”
His hands found her waist, pulling her flush against him. “You’re mine, Anastasia. Only mine.”
The possessiveness in his voice sent shivers down her spine. “I know,” she whispered, her hands sliding up his chest. “I’ve always been yours.”
Cassian’s control visibly snapped. His mouth crashed down on hers with desperate hunger, pouring all his jealousy and need into the kiss. When they finally broke apart, both were breathing hard.
“I need you to know,” he murmured against her lips, “that no one else will ever have what we have. What you give me.”
Anastasia’s heart raced at the raw emotion in his voice. “Show me,” she breathed. “Show me how much you need me.”
Without another word, Cassian swept her into his arms, carrying her toward their bedroom as she laughed softly against his neck.
“You drive me absolutely crazy,” he confessed as he set her down gently. “The thought of losing you to someone else…”
“You won’t,” she assured him, her fingers working at the buttons of his shirt. “I chose you, Cassian. Only you.”
The rest of the night was spent proving just how deep their connection ran, with whispered confessions and tender passion that left no doubt about where her heart truly belonged.
