Anastasia’s heart tightened, and she instinctively gripped Cassian’s hand.

Cassian squeezed back reassuringly, and her racing heart gradually calmed down.

Yuria’s eyes flashed with excitement as she started to follow behind Anastasia and the others, but Michelle grabbed her arm.

When Grandfather told them to go rest, that meant he didn’t want them hearing what came next.

If Yuria stupidly followed them now, it would piss Grandfather off.

Michelle was annoyed as hell, but she obediently stayed put.

The study door closed behind them. Outside, Uncle Thomas’s family had already crept closer, and Yuria thought this was her chance!

She quickly followed suit.

This time Michelle didn’t stop her – because she was sneaking over too.

But Grandfather’s study had serious soundproofing – they couldn’t hear a damn thing from inside.

Once the door shut, Anastasia felt the whole atmosphere shift. She was nervous, her palms getting clammy and gross.

Grandfather Rhodes handed his phone to Anastasia. “I’m sure this is all a misunderstanding. Just explain to me, and I’ll believe you.”

Anastasia looked at the photo and was totally shocked.

When the hell had she and Garthan been hugging?!

Then it hit her – the hospital incident with that runaway medical cart!

She’d tried to dodge it, but Garthan had grabbed her and pulled her out of the way.

Anastasia explained what had happened, then looked over at Cassian.

She didn’t give a shit what anyone else thought – she just needed to know what Cassian was thinking.

Cassian frowned slightly as he took the phone from her.

He zoomed in on the photo, studying it carefully for a long moment, like he was seeing it for the first time.

Little did Anastasia know, this actually was the first time Cassian had seen this photo.

Anastasia’s heart dropped and her breathing slowed. Did Cassian not trust her?

Just when she’d thought things were finally going well, this bullshit had to happen!

Who the hell was trying to mess with her?

Then Cassian pointed at the photo. “Grandpa, why didn’t you look at this thing properly before bringing it up? And keeping it from me and my wife? If this causes problems between us and we end up getting divorced, I’m staying single for the rest of my life!”

“You… you impossible child…”

Grandfather Rhodes looked stunned. This was the first time he’d ever heard Cassian say so much in one breath!

Ever since Anastasia came into his life, Cassian had completely changed.

“Why are you staring at me? Look at the photo,” Cassian said impatiently.
