Chapter 182

“That Anastasia actually brought Cassian to visit Sheila’s grave—does she really think he’s serious about her? As if she deserves it,” Valeria said with pure contempt.

Sharpson snapped back to reality, shooting Valeria a sharp look. “No matter how you feel about it, she’s still your sister.”

Valeria was shocked by his sudden anger, her eyes welling up. “Dad, why are you defending her?”

Whitney quickly intervened before Valeria could say something else to piss Sharpson off. “Sweetie, why don’t you and Jasper head home? I’ll handle things here.”

“Fine.”

Just as Valeria was about to leave, Sharpson said firmly, “Remember this—no matter what, when you’re in public, Anastasia is your sister. Got it?”

Valeria felt the weight of his authority and stiffly nodded. “I understand.”

After Valeria left, Whitney said soothingly, “Honey, she’s still young. We’ll teach her better.”

“Young?” Sharpson let out a bitter laugh. “She’s about to be a mother herself—how is that young? You better tell Valeria to tone down the attitude, or she’s gonna regret it later.”

Whitney figured Sharpson was just in a bad mood and taking it out on everyone. She didn’t take his words seriously at all. But outwardly, she played the understanding wife. “Don’t get yourself worked up over this—it’s not worth damaging your health. I’ll talk to her.”

Whitney was a master at handling men, knowing exactly when to be firm and when to be submissive. That’s why Sharpson was so devoted to her, unlike some people who were too stubborn to ever back down.

When Sheila found out about Whitney and Sharpson’s affair, it had been Whitney who orchestrated the whole thing. She knew Sheila couldn’t tolerate any betrayal. Just as she’d predicted, Sheila immediately demanded a divorce after discovering the affair. But Sharpson refused. Then something happened that seemed to break Sheila’s mind completely, and she died in that car accident soon after.

Other people might not know what really triggered Sheila’s breakdown, but Whitney sure as hell did.
