Chapter 221
Tamia’s mouth twitched. Was her new boss seriously this weird?
“Yinsen, do you even still have any virtue left?”
“Excuse me?! Of course I do!”
Tamia just smiled and completely ignored his dramatics. She didn’t believe a single word that came out of his mouth! She clearly remembered how everyone started gossiping about her new boss right after the company merger. Yinsen was good-looking and capable, so he had women constantly orbiting around him, and he never turned anyone down. Word was that Yinsen had already hooked up with several female employees at the company. Tamia had zero interest in being his next conquest, so she’d been avoiding unnecessary contact with him. And earlier, when Yinsen was talking about caring for her health and telling her to rest–to Tamia, that was just classic pickup artist bullshit. She wasn’t touched; she was repulsed.
Yinsen noticed Tamia giving him some weird looks and was about to say something when Griffin came back. “Alright, let’s roll. I got us a table set up in a private room.”
“We’re missing one for poker,” Yinsen pointed out.
“We’ll start with blackjack until Cassian gets back…”
Griffin was cut off mid-sentence by Yinsen. “Hold up, you seriously want to play against that freak?”
“He’s got Ana with him,” Griffin reminded him.
“Oh right.” Yinsen looked relieved.
Griffin shot Yinsen a disgusted look. “Next time we go anywhere, don’t tell people we know each other. You’re embarrassing.”
“Fuck off!” Yinsen shot back.
Tamia noticed that Yinsen and Griffin’s dynamic was kind of like hers and Anastasia’s–they just said whatever felt natural, constantly roasting each other but never actually getting mad. Their banter was actually helping her relax and shake off the panic from earlier. Yinsen caught Griffin’s eye with a look that said thanks. Griffin smugly lifted his chin in acknowledgment.
“You guys called Cassian a freak earlier. Is he a bad sport or something?” Tamia asked curiously.
“Nah, he’s actually got perfect sportsmanship. The problem is that he wins every damn time. He’s got this insane ability to count cards–doesn’t matter how many decks we’re playing with, he remembers every single card that’s been played and what everyone’s holding.”
“It’s like he’s got X-ray vision or some shit. He always knows exactly what we’re about to play and blocks us perfectly.”
“We don’t even like playing with Cassian anymore. It’s boring as hell when he wins every single hand,” Griffin added.
“But at least now there’s Anastasia. She probably doesn’t know how to play cards, so maybe we’ll have a chance,” Yinsen said hopefully.
Tamia’s mouth twitched. These two assholes were planning to pick on Anastasia to feel better about themselves. Too bad their plan was doomed to fail. Because Anastasia was also a complete freak of nature! Tamia decided to keep that little secret to herself for now. They’d find out soon enough and regret underestimating her.
