Listen to this chapter:

Cassian and another man emerged from the apartment building when a figure hurriedly approached them.

“Mr. Maddox.”

Nicole Donovan boldly blocked Theo Maddox at the entrance, pulling out a bank card. “Mr. Maddox, I need you to handle a case for me. There’s a hundred million in here–all yours.”

Nicole looked at Theo with complete confidence. Nobody could refuse that kind of money.

Theo raised an eyebrow but didn’t immediately agree. Instead, he glanced toward Cassian.

Cassian said nothing, just stared at Theo intently.

That’s when Nicole finally noticed Cassian.

The moment she saw him, her expression darkened and her smile vanished.

She smoothly pocketed the bank card. “I see how it is.”

With that, Nicole turned and walked away.

Even though she was alone, she carried herself like she had an army at her back–pure power radiating from every step.

Theo looked at Cassian. “You saw that, right? I just turned down a hundred million for you.”

“I’ll make it worth your while,” Cassian replied.

Theo’s lips curved into a smile. “Good.”

“Let’s go see your wife first.”

At the mention of Anastasia, Cassian’s expression grew grave.

He’d never felt this worried before.

When they reached the police station, they found Jasper being tossed out drunk on his ass.

Jasper landed right at Cassian’s feet.

Cassian stopped walking.

Jasper seemed to sense something and looked up at Cassian.

Seeing him, Jasper’s eyes flashed with hatred. “You don’t even love Ana. Why won’t you let her go?”

Cassian couldn’t be bothered to respond and moved to step around him.

But Jasper grabbed Cassian’s ankle desperately. “I’m the only one who can save Ana! I know Director Fury, you hear me?”

Cassian shook off Jasper’s grip and continued toward the station.

“Ooh, he knows Director Fury,” Theo said mockingly. “Maybe you should hand over your wife? That way you won’t have to deal with all the Rhodes family drama.”

After learning that Anastasia had crossed the Donovan family, Cassian’s uncles Thomas and Gilbert had both come to pressure him into abandoning her to protect the Rhodes business empire.

“The Donovans have been gaining serious power lately, and they’ve got connections on both sides of the law. If we really piss them off, they’ll sabotage us at every turn until we can’t do business at all,” Thomas had argued.

“Exactly! We can’t let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch,” Gilbert had chimed in.

Cassian had coldly surveyed them both. “Uncle Thomas, Uncle Gilbert, Anastasia is my legal wife. I have an obligation to protect her."

“She’s the one who was stupid enough to pull this shit, so she should face the consequences!” Gilbert had snapped.

“My wife and I face things together,” Cassian had replied with unwavering determination.

Thomas was so frustrated he nearly ground his teeth to powder. “How can you face this? By gambling half of Rhodes Global? If the company gets weakened, we’ll be sitting ducks for every enemy we’ve made! They’ll crush us like ants…”

“You idiots!”

Grandpa Rhodes appeared, supported by Lancey, slowly making his way toward them.
