If Judy hadn’t been a capable woman in a position of power, but just an ordinary woman, then she would’ve been forced to swallow this humiliation in silence. She stepped toward him, one step at a time.
Brian also realized there was no escape for him now. It wasn’t just the crowd blocking his way–there was also a strong, solid man standing right there. With those two facts in front of him, Brian knew clearly he had no way out.
He suddenly scrambled to his feet and crawled toward Judy, clutching the hem of her pants. His voice trembled, laced with sobs and fear. “Judy… no, Miss Judy, it was my fault. Please forgive me. I really know I was wrong. I’m really scared now.”
The moment the word “Judy” slipped out of Brian’s mouth, Kenneth landed a swift kick on him. Just hearing that name made Kenneth regret not hitting him harder earlier. A thick-skinned person like Brian deserved another punch—that way, at least their eyes wouldn’t have to suffer the sight of him.
No one in the crowd felt the slightest bit sorry for Brian. After all, the path he chose was his own. He had no one else to blame. If he hadn’t tried to get close to Judy in the first place, they would still consider him their colleague, and none of this would’ve happened. His job would’ve been secure, and he might’ve even gotten promoted. Judy had made it very clear—as long as he worked hard, salary raises weren’t a problem. Later on, she’d even hinted that if he performed well, he might get a share in the company.
But now, none of that mattered anymore. Life never offers a chance to rewind past mistakes. Judy gently kicked Brian away from her pant leg, then shook her head at him. Her voice was clear and crisp. “There’s no need anymore, Brian. The fact that I still call you that means I truly once saw you as a partner. It’s just… I never expected you to reveal your true nature so quickly.”
But Brian crawled forward again and began banging his head against the floor. “I know I was wrong. I really do. I’m sorry. From now on, whatever you want to do, just do it. I won’t interfere again. It was my fault. Everything was my fault.”
In the end, Brian even started slapping himself in the face. Everyone watching could see it clearly—Brian had officially destroyed his own future.
Judy let out a soft laugh. “Begging me is pointless…”
At those words, Brian’s kowtowing froze mid-motion. He didn’t understand what she meant.
“What do you mean by that… what does that mean…” He couldn’t be sure what he feared she might be thinking. At this point, his entire fate rested in Judy’s hands.
And in a way, so did everyone else’s breath—they were all hanging on her decision because they were truly curious to see what she would choose to do.
Only Kenneth, standing beside her, knew Judy had been frightened today. He gently took her hand and whispered, “It’s okay. Whatever you decide, I’ll support you.”
