Chapter 1079

If that was the case, then what about all the harm Aurora had suffered before? Could everything from before just be brushed aside, as if it meant nothing? Of course not. That was simply impossible. So even now, Jason still didnโ€™t understand Graceโ€™s actions. While he was arranging this matter, he happened to run into Aurora walking toward Graceโ€™s office at the corner. Feeling guilty, Jason avoided her gaze. Aurora noticed and took the initiative to greet him. โ€œJason, where are you off to?โ€

Jason froze mid-step, his face awkward. Why couldnโ€™t she just pretend she hadnโ€™t seen him? Why did she have to greet him at this moment? He truly didnโ€™t know what to say. With no choice, he slowly turned around, forcing an official smile back onto his face. โ€œWhat a coincidence, Miss Aurora.โ€ But Aurora wasnโ€™t buying it and kept to the original topic. โ€œIt is quite a coincidence.โ€ โ€œSo, Jason, what exactly are you doing?โ€ Her half-smile lingered as she fixed her gaze on him. Her expression was calm, but her eyes were as sharp as an eagleโ€™s, missing not a flicker of emotion on Jasonโ€™s face. He scratched his head and finally came up with an excuse. โ€œMiss Aurora, this is work arranged by Madam Grace. I really canโ€™t tell you.โ€ He bent slightly toward Aurora. โ€œIf you have something to do, you should go ahead. I canโ€™t delay the work Madam Grace has assigned to me.โ€ Inwardly, Jason kept praying over and over that Aurora wouldnโ€™t pursue the matter further. He truly couldnโ€™t handle it. With someone as sharp as Aurora, he wouldnโ€™t stand a chance.

Just a few more words, and he was sure heโ€™d give himself away. Aurora didnโ€™t say anything, just kept a faint smile on her lips as she looked at Jason. That look left Jason at a loss for words. He could only avert his gaze, lips moving slightly, unsure what to say. Seeing him like that, Aurora waved her hand. โ€œGo on with your work. Iโ€™m just curious, thatโ€™s all.โ€ Jason quickly nodded to show he understood. He said respectfully, โ€œMiss Aurora, Iโ€™ll get back to work then.โ€ โ€œAlright, go ahead.โ€ Aurora didnโ€™t make things difficult for him any further. After all, they were both just employees โ€“ there was no need to make it hard for the other. Besides, it was everyoneโ€™s right. Once Aurora walked away, Jason let out a long breath of relief. He hadnโ€™t expected her perception to be that sharp. Just one glance, and she could tell exactly what he was thinking. Even a quick sideways look was enough for her to notice his unease. Fortunately, Aurora was understanding and didnโ€™t press him further. Otherwise, he truly wouldnโ€™t have known what to say. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Jason quickened his pace. He just wanted to get away from there as soon as possible. After watching him leave, Auroraโ€™s expression relaxed. It seemed there was definitely some secret between Jason and her mother. And was that secret connected to her? Aurora was starting to wonder โ€“ what exactly was this about? If Jason knew, why couldnโ€™t she?
