Chapter 1199

โ€œFrom now on, whenever Iโ€™m free, Iโ€™ll come byโ€“so long as you donโ€™t find me annoying,โ€ Leonard said earnestly.

Heโ€™d been worrying about how to find an excuse to come around more often.

He hadnโ€™t expected Megan to hand him the perfect opening so easily, laying down the path for him to just walk right in.

โ€œAnnoying? How could I? Free labor is never unwelcome.โ€ Megan patted his shoulder. โ€œWork hard, and once things settle down, Aurora and I will treat you to dinner.โ€

โ€œNo need for dinner. But itโ€™s trueโ€“we havenโ€™t gotten together in ages.โ€

Leonard rubbed the back of his neck, a little awkward. โ€œYouโ€™ve both just been buried with this studio project.โ€

โ€œYes, yes, everyone knows the mighty Miss Megan is the busiest of all,โ€ Leonard teased.

โ€œDoesnโ€™t matter. Once you two are done here, you can find me anytime. Iโ€™ll be around.โ€

Hearing that, Megan suddenly felt a little awkward herself. โ€œWith the way youโ€™re helping out, donโ€™t tell meโ€“you actually have feelings for Aurora?โ€

Leonard froze on the spot.

He thought Megan hadnโ€™t noticed anything. But clearly, she had seen right through him.

Without mercy, sheโ€™d torn off the cover he hadnโ€™t even realized was so thin.

He rubbed at his nose, eyes shifting away. โ€œWhy would you say that?โ€

โ€œOh, come on.โ€ Megan curled her fist and playfully tapped his shoulder.

โ€œThat little secret of yours? Please. Itโ€™s plain as day. You werenโ€™t even trying to hide itโ€“anyone with eyes could see.โ€

Leonard ran his tongue over dry lips, at a loss for words. He hadnโ€™t expected Megan to be so blunt, asking him straight out.

โ€œBut Iโ€ฆโ€ He started to explain, only to be cut off.

โ€œForget it. You donโ€™t need to explain a thingโ€“it doesnโ€™t matter.โ€

Megan pointed at the line of potted plants. โ€œWhat matters right now is you finishing the job. Stop wasting time with this nonsense. I honestly donโ€™t care that much.โ€

With that, she turned and walked toward the plants without another word. There was no more time to waste.

She had already wasted too much time fussing over the flowers and plants.

The project was moving too slowly, and they were supposed to start renovations at the beginning of next month. That left barely two weeks, and the schedule was tight.

She couldnโ€™t afford to waste any more time on Leonard.

As for whether he still had feelings for Aurora, Megan honestly didnโ€™t care.

After all, any feelings he had could only stay buried in his heart. Aurora was with her cousin now.

So, no matter how much Leonard liked her, he had no chance.

Talking about it was pointless. Why waste time chasing something that had no future?

Leonard heard Meganโ€™s words from behind but didnโ€™t know how to respond. He had wanted to explain himself seriously just moments ago.

But for some reason, deep down, he didnโ€™t want Megan to know he had once liked Aurora, especially now that Aurora was married to Meganโ€™s cousin.

If he kept acting this way, wouldnโ€™t that make him look like some pathetic interloper?
