Chapter 1199
โFrom now on, whenever Iโm free, Iโll come byโso long as you donโt find me annoying,โ Leonard said earnestly.
Heโd been worrying about how to find an excuse to come around more often.
He hadnโt expected Megan to hand him the perfect opening so easily, laying down the path for him to just walk right in.
โAnnoying? How could I? Free labor is never unwelcome.โ Megan patted his shoulder. โWork hard, and once things settle down, Aurora and I will treat you to dinner.โ
โNo need for dinner. But itโs trueโwe havenโt gotten together in ages.โ
Leonard rubbed the back of his neck, a little awkward. โYouโve both just been buried with this studio project.โ
โYes, yes, everyone knows the mighty Miss Megan is the busiest of all,โ Leonard teased.
โDoesnโt matter. Once you two are done here, you can find me anytime. Iโll be around.โ
Hearing that, Megan suddenly felt a little awkward herself. โWith the way youโre helping out, donโt tell meโyou actually have feelings for Aurora?โ
Leonard froze on the spot.
He thought Megan hadnโt noticed anything. But clearly, she had seen right through him.
Without mercy, sheโd torn off the cover he hadnโt even realized was so thin.
He rubbed at his nose, eyes shifting away. โWhy would you say that?โ
โOh, come on.โ Megan curled her fist and playfully tapped his shoulder.
โThat little secret of yours? Please. Itโs plain as day. You werenโt even trying to hide itโanyone with eyes could see.โ
Leonard ran his tongue over dry lips, at a loss for words. He hadnโt expected Megan to be so blunt, asking him straight out.
โBut Iโฆโ He started to explain, only to be cut off.
โForget it. You donโt need to explain a thingโit doesnโt matter.โ
Megan pointed at the line of potted plants. โWhat matters right now is you finishing the job. Stop wasting time with this nonsense. I honestly donโt care that much.โ
With that, she turned and walked toward the plants without another word. There was no more time to waste.
She had already wasted too much time fussing over the flowers and plants.
The project was moving too slowly, and they were supposed to start renovations at the beginning of next month. That left barely two weeks, and the schedule was tight.
She couldnโt afford to waste any more time on Leonard.
As for whether he still had feelings for Aurora, Megan honestly didnโt care.
After all, any feelings he had could only stay buried in his heart. Aurora was with her cousin now.
So, no matter how much Leonard liked her, he had no chance.
Talking about it was pointless. Why waste time chasing something that had no future?
Leonard heard Meganโs words from behind but didnโt know how to respond. He had wanted to explain himself seriously just moments ago.
But for some reason, deep down, he didnโt want Megan to know he had once liked Aurora, especially now that Aurora was married to Meganโs cousin.
If he kept acting this way, wouldnโt that make him look like some pathetic interloper?
