If he kept pushing like this, it wouldn’t just be him looking bad; it would turn into a public embarrassment. Daniel didn’t mind tearing things apart. At that thought, his gaze turned cold.

After all, there was no shortage of partners. Losing one or two hardly mattered. Ravenshore was full of business opportunities, not to mention he had Lucas backing him.

Once Joseph left, his own expression shifted. He hadn’t expected that after giving Daniel so many valuable gifts, it would all end up for nothing.

But then he remembered Daniel’s serious expression, the way he had warned him. That scene remained vivid in his mind. Even if he wanted to shrug it off, it was clear things weren’t that simple. People were creatures of profit and self–preservation. This matter was a warning bell Joseph couldn’t ignore. Joseph thought it over carefully and decided he would have someone investigate Lucas.

He wanted to see for himself if Lucas was truly the one Daniel feared so much. Or perhaps the real person Daniel feared was someone behind Lucas? What kind of power was backing him? In the end, maybe he was just a pretty face with no background, putting on an act. At the thought, a cold glint flashed in Joseph’s eyes. And as for Aurora, he wouldn’t let her off either. Since she had humiliated him so many times before, she had better be ready–he would return it all, one by one.

Meanwhile, Tessa was trying to get in touch with Daniel’s secretary. She thought of that condescending receptionist and felt her anger boil. So, what if he was a receptionist? What was there to be so arrogant about? Yes, she hadn’t made an appointment this time, but that didn’t mean she would spend her life groveling like the others. Her fists clenched tighter as frustration surged. This was all Aurora’s fault. She had left without even handing over her work properly. The deal with Daniel’s company had already been discussed, yet in the end even a mere receptionist dared to act superior to her. They hadn’t even taken the matter seriously. Why insist on some appointment? Taking a deep breath, Tessa finally managed to reach Daniel’s secretary. Since that was the case, she would secure the appointment and show it to that receptionist. Tomorrow, she would slap it right in his face. Tessa contacted Daniel’s secretary and explained her request. “Hello, this is from Walton Corporation,” Tessa said, forcing her voice steady. “Previously, our company discussed a project concerning the land in the southern district. I’d like to ask when we might be able to sign the contract?”
